I tried to make frosting from scratch, didn't work. I have classic white frosting but i would really love for it to be chocolate. Can I add cocoa powder or something or is this just not possible?

Caroline --- I some times run into that problem. Here is the way I change white icing to chocolate. Melt 2 table spoons of crisco to very warm but not hot enough to saute For one can of the icing sold in the food store. I add 3 table spoons Hershey
cocoa to the hot oil and stir to make a paste. Remove icing to a bowl and stir in the chocolate paste. If not dark enough to suit mix up a half pecipe and add. You might want to add a little vanilla.
I hope this helps you. jim b

Im not so sure about pillsbury frosting..
but, when I make frosting here is what I do:

Ingredence:
powdered sugar
milk
cocoa powder

Get a bowl and put in desired amout of powdered sugar.
Start to add small amounts of milk and mixing slowly.
Once you find your desired density of the frosting add as much cocoa powder as you want.

Yeah, it wouldn't taste like pure chocolate though. Maybe add some chocolate chips too :)
