No matter what religion your from, why do you believe what you believe. I believe in God because all of the bible is proven, and everything has a creator. There is more to it, but I want to see what ya'll have to say.

Obviously you all think I was raised a Christian I believe what I believe because that was how I was raised. NOT. I was born into a non believing family, and I was raised Catholic up until a few years ago. Now I am a born again Christian and my faith is my own. I was wrong when I said all of the Bible was proven, I chose the wrong wording, but just because I am sharing my belief with people and was curious to know what all of you believed it DOESNT GIVE ALL OF YOU A RIGHT TO GANG UP ON PEOPLE. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF ALL OF YOU THAT MOCK AND DISS CHRISTIANS JUST BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE SOMETHING ELSE. Now, I am tired of you arguing with me, I just wanted to know what you believed and why you believe it. Obviously with all the reponses i'm getting, most of you can't back up what you believe in. So DON'T EVEN START WITH WHAT I BELIEVE IN IS WRONG. Thank you to all of you who actually answered my question, and didn't diss my faith. I don't diss you for what you believe on so don't be hatin'.

first, I gotta say, you've opened yourself up to many answers contradicting your reasoning (badmouthing you), not actually getting the unbiased answers that you're going for... and i apologize about that one!!! :)
I believe in my beliefs because they feel right to my heart. I beleive because it gives me peace, that christianity couldn't. (nothing against it, it just wasn't right for me) I feel religion should be a conscious choice, not just following brainlessly because family or a book tells you to (again, nothing against those that disagree. you asked for an opinion ;) ). I beleive, because it makes sense to me, and i understand it... christianity doesn't make complete sense to me, and my heart told me to look elsewhere. ;)

I tell you all, if you want to find fault, you will. If you want to believe you will. What, then, make it different for believers of a faith vs non-faith. I think that , for me I know there is a God and I know that he created the universe. I believe because , 1. I was raise in the faith and 2. I have had enough personal experiences to know that there are powers beyond our control or comprehension. I encourage people to chedk out the Creation Library tab at www.christiananswers.net. Just check it out and I think you of little faith will see how things really are. There is no bending the Bible to make things fit. It is right there. God bless all and Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.

I was raised methodist, but we stopped going to church when I was young. The church we attended became very anti-military. My dad was in the army, Rangers, special forces, armor (Big Red 1) and 2 tours in vietnam. We left before he decided it was his turn to stand up in church and speak (Yes, they were giving anti-military speeches in the church during service).
In college, I began to search again. The local methodist churches didn't seem to feel 'right.' I followed someone to Catholic mass one day and walked out with a "wow" feeling. I continued going to mass for ayear before going through RCIA (Rite of Christian initiation for Adults). Since then I have read the Bible and MANY MANY other books on the topic. My faith is more 'intellectual' then emotional. It makes more sense logically and biblically then other denominations.
Ultimately, it boils down to FAITH. While the Catholic church makes the most sense to me Biblically, historically, etc... I still must have FAITH that the Bible is correct. That Jesus was God and that events that occured did actually occur.
I think the process for religious belief goes something like this
1) IS there a God?
2) What kind of God is he?
3) How did he reveal himself?
4) Do I believe these revelations?
5) Can I commit myself to this belief?
Each step leads you in a different direction. I am Catholic. My family is all either Methodist or Baptist. My wife's family is Catholic. My friends are protestant (of different denomiations), atheist/agnostic, Bahá'à and others. I have no problem with discussing religion with any of them because we do just that: discuss, as in talk. Not argue, not say things like "convert or be condemned to hell." I hope that someday all of them see the Catholic church as the correct one, but I doubt that will happen. I therefore hope that God somehow finds it in his heart to accept them into his kingdom despite their non-belief. (or if I am the wrong one, to accept me heheheeh)
God Bless!

I believe in what I believe, because I had to face the stunning reality that what I had been taught as a child about God wasn't at all supported by reality.
I too thought that the bible was proven, I believed it because that is what I had been told, not because I found evidence that it had been proven. I believed everything had a creator, I did that because it made me feel like I had meaning in life, not because there was evidence for a creator.

Well, I'm an atheist, and one of the reasons would be it's proven that many of the proofs in the bible actually contradict the other parts of the Bible. This isn't just an old testament vs. new testament thing, either.
Give it a read sometime, instead of just believing in it, you'll see what I mean.

Because God actually changed my life, very dramatically, in an instant, when I did not expect it and when I did not even know such a thing was possible.
He caused me to be born again, rescuing me from the depths of despair and hopelessness at a time I was angry with Him and basically told Him to get lost. This He did by sending His Holy Spirit to convince me that Jesus really did die for my sins.
I have lived in the peace of God now for over 30 years, and never doubted that Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of the World, and that I have eternal life through faith in Him.

I believe in God as learnt as a child. I just can't see where God was in my life when the chips were down. Seems he always left then, as has most everyone else. God is real enough I believe, just not for me. So I guess I am a christian whom believes, just left out by God.

"I believe in God because all of the bible is proven, and everything has a creator."
Lies like this are a very good reason why I'm not a Christian. Too many lies have to be propagated for the faith to continue.

I believe the bible because I have put many years of study into it, and seen the things I have learned proven true all around me. I also believe because of the personal experience of God working in my life.
