I always thought astrology, palm reading, psychics was just momentary entertainment and schemes to get money from people. How true is it?

I never call what I do "fortune telling". I call it "divination" - divining answers through tarot, or contacting my spirit allies, etc.

I don't charge when I do a reading for someone else, so I don't think you could say I'm scheming to get money from people. (Though there are con-artists claiming to be psychics out there. Any real psychic who makes a living with their skills will have good references and credentials, just like any person with any other professional skill.)

No psychic can tell you what's "definitely" going to happen in your future. They may receive messages about things that will happen in your near future, which is contingent on you remaining on the path you are on at the time of the reading. However, you have the ability to make different decisions and alter that path, resulting in your changing the outcome. We all create our own realities.

I thouroughly enjoy working with my tarot cards, so I suppose you could call it a form of entertainment for me.

They pretty much are just schemes. If you just look at it objectively, you can realize full well how little truth it must hold (at least in the case of astrology and palm reading...it is actually hard to tell if real psychics do not exist in one shape or form).

The occult includes satanism, witchcraft, demonology, astrology, palm reading, tarot card readings, psychic readings, ouija boards, seances, voodoo, and any other method whereby another source other than God is used to seek answers for our lives.

You may say that I know people whose astrological signs fit their personality and psychic readings have come true. Yes, this may be and there is a reason for this. Remember satan is in direct control of these acts and his job and purpose is to make people, sometimes even Christians, seek other means for direction in their lives. Since he is in control, wouldn’t it serve to reason that he would make some of these acts a reality in people’s lives? How else would he get us to believe and start having faith in something if there was no reality. For instance, a psychic may tell a woman that today, at 3 p.m., she will meet a tall man dressed in a brown coat who will come up to her and ask the time. Don’t you know that satan can send that man to that woman to do that very thing? Then guess what? We began having faith in that psychic and will begin seeking that psychic for answers as opposed to seeking God.

We will become dependent on the direction of that psychic when we are supposed to be dependent on God alone. In seances, remember the Bible talking about familiar spirits? The voices of these spirits are familiar to you who appear in seances and satan wants you to believe that you are really contacting a loved one. He will even have that so-called loved one, which is a familiar spirit, to give you direction on something that is set out to destroy you. We do not have contact with the dead, nor or we to contact the dead, saved or unsaved. In the book of Leviticus 19:26, and Dueteronomy 18:10-12, we are warned against participation in such practices. The book of Acts 19:18,19, tells how the people after they were saved and filled with the holy ghost, came together and had a giant bonfire with all of their books of magic arts and instruments used in the occult. They burned everything pertaining to the occult and renounced their practices. We cannot serve two gods, we will either hate the one and cling to the other, or cling to one and hate the other. Satan is called the god of this world, and if we are in any way participating in occult practices, we are serving satan. He would have us believe that there is no harm in reading daily horoscopes out of the newspapers because we are just doing it for fun and there in no real harm in them. Nothing in the occult is for fun and there is harm in even the most seemingly innocent occult practice. I have found the people of God have little or no knowledge in this subject, and satan capitalizes on our ignorance. He is a liar because God will always lead us into all truths, and we will know the wiles of the devil. This knowledge makes us more effective soldiers when battling in spiritual warfare. Any involvement in the occult, no matter how minor, must be renounced and that territory given back to God.

i know real astrologers and card readers, and it's not just entertainment, they have provided me and others with very specific information. you can't predict the future like many still seem to believe, but it can say a lot about your current circumstances. it's the art of reading the interconnectedness of the universe. i was skeptical about it until i joined the pagan community, and i've seen too much that can't be written off as coincidence.

newspaper horoscopes are b.s., a real chart takes a lot of work. and a lot of people who claim to be able to read cards are only reciting the standard meanings of the cards, not analyzing the inter-relationships.

Thru out history, people have claimed to be able to see the future or make predictions or explain the unexplainable. So long as you take it for nothing more than entertainment (and don't spend any money on it) it does no harm. In many ways, religions are trying to explain the unexplainable. How much faith you put in your religion should be weighed against how much you gain by it (and beware when others gain financially from your faith). good luck

People do use these as a way to manipulate people---but the answer to your question is yes--there are people like this and no it isn't simply fun and games. These people mean business-get--but astrologers etc --are not bigger or smarter than God contrary to what some of them might want people to believe. If you might reacll --the Egyption people tried to use this stuff when coming against moses in the book of Exodus and God trumped them all

It is much, much more that 'fun and games', it is all part of the struggle for you! Satan wants you on his side so that he will not have to burn for the sins that he caused you to commit, on the other hand God wants you on His side so that we can enjoy each others company, there is NO excuse for sin (the breaking of the Law of God, Ex 20:2-17), but God in His Loving Mercy is willing to forgive you IF you will obey Him!
