I know a girl whose husband is JW. He gives nothing to anyone, but the gifts people give to her, he takes what he likes from her stuff.

Is this how JW operate?

I "care" because the group of us are not exchanging gifts this year in work, because of this. We don't feel like buying her nice gifts, only to have her tell us he took them to use himself, both things and giftcards. Or he takes things meant for her such as clothes, and gives them to his family. We don't like spending money on gifts for her, to be taken by someone we never met, and given to people we don't know.

Some of them. They bend their rules when it is convenient for them.

Like how they remain neutral and don't vote or get involved in any kind of politics; but they will accept government money or food stamps and work for government agencies. Some witnesses even have turkey on thanksgiving, but they say they don't celebrate it.

Sounds mean. He may be a jerk. Is he an active witness or is he disfellowshipped or not going anymore.

There are many who become JWs and quit having anything to do with it after that. They still believe that way, but may do who knows what.

(Of course, most churches have a long list of inactive ones who don't go at all or only at Christmas and Easter or in the case of JWs to the Memorial of Christ's death or the circuit overseer's visit).

Either way, he is a jerk.

If you CAN, I'd talk to him personally about it.

I have never heard of such! Sounds like an abusive control freak! Get her something very feminine next time.Better yet, just take her out to lunch. That way he can't eat, give away, etc her stuff! What a jerk!

I think he would just be considered a hypocrite...or a jerk...but I could be mistaken.

Of course, if she was given a pound of Starbucks coffee, I wouldn't consider him making coffee in the morning to be either jerky nor hypocritical.

Taking her new I-Pod would be.
