my dad's gf just got a ferret! so cute! and it's very interesting that it's one step away from being albino. does that mean they have some grey in them? isn't it cool how they can squish down to be almost flat? her ferret always goes under closed doors. it's cool but sometimes freaky when you're changing and there's a ferret! ;)
luv them

I've had pet ferrets and they just weasel their way into my heart. But FERRETS ARE NOT RODENTS. They are a lot of fun. Some of them nip, trying to get you to chase them. They have a great sense of humor. If the ferret is hiding under the furniture and you want it out, put barricades around to keep it in. It will come out. They LOVE being chased, and they enjoy being caught too. I remember chasing my ferret; she would turn her front end to "threaten" me with her little wide-open mouth, so she was in a U-shape, running frontward with her back feet and backward with her front feet! Stuff your ferret in a box, it will come out. They're not for everybody, they're a little wild, but I love them.
They communicate by scent. When having fun, they make a pleasant musky odor. When annoyed, they make a slight stinky odor. When alarmed (and this isn't easy to do) they make a bigger stink. The stink goes away quickly, not at all like a skunk. They run around making happy noises.
Keep the ferret away from small pets like rats, hamsters, and birds; they have a strong predatory instinct. They are great ratters.
Where I live now, they are illegal, though.

Ferrets are absolutely awesome! They are cute, fun, easy to train, and just so lovable! Unfortunately, they are illegal where I am currently living. Don't take your incredible pet for granted :)
Plus... If your friends are gonna tease you about it, then it is really the time to find some better ones anyway ;)
Seriously though! Love your baby, and be proud of him! You can show everybody just how awesome ferrets are :P
Congrats on your new pet! Hope you 2 have loads of fun together :)

YES!
Ferrets take a lot of work to take care of, but they are THEE best pets ever. They are sooo funny and intelligent. I think your boyfriend and friends would love to hear about Choo. Just don't introduce them to Choo all at once, because he will get very scared and possibly bite. You should never be ashamed of the beautiful animals put on earth.

Ferrets are smelly animals that really are not good pets unless you have allot of time to spend with them. they are so curious that there constantly getting out so be care full. They are active at night and sleep most of the daylight hours. When they are awake they need constant brain stimulation or they will eventually develop abnormal behaviors. I have heard it makes them retarded. They are so active when there awake it's tiresome to watch. They are very cute and that's why people are attracted to them. Ferret proof your house so they don't get hurt or lost. They need a companion!! Also they are illegal in quite a few states so research the laws in the state or county you live in.

Haha, that's funny- of course you should tell your friends! What are you going to do with him when the come over?? I personally think they are a weird pet- a friend I had as a kid had a couple and her house smelled so bad b/c of them! But, they are kinda cute- in a odd way. If you love your little Choo then that's all that matters. :)

Ferrets are so cute. Who cares what other people think, most people who say they're weird pets have never even seen a ferret in person, so they don't know what they're talking about. And of course you should tell people, it's a new pet and thats exciting!

Not weird, just irritating. They are cute at first, but they will poop up your house, knock over your iced tea onto the carpet, and eat holes in your wall. Not only that, but they stink to high heaven! The ferret my roomate had was loved by one person...her. I'd suggest keeping it in the cage when your friends are over. They may dig petting it, but they won't dig the smell it leaves on their hands and clothes.

Not really wierd, its fairly normal to have a ferret well people around here have some, though personally I would never want one because when they get upset or angry they like to pee all over their cage and then stink to high heaven.

A lot of people have a ferret for a pet. It's weird when you have 40 of them.
