I remember when they use to open with the road course out here in Riverside, Calif think that was back in 60's early 70's. its been a long time, the race track is gone now..

Until the modern era begain the Daytona race was the first race of the year HOWEVER,the final race of the year before was run in January,this was the Riverside California race.

I don't remember this being the case, but then again, they didn't show all of the races back then either. For awhile, the first race was at Riverside in Cali.

i remember when the races were on the beach, i grew up in daytona and loved every minute of it

I cant remember the exact name of the track but it was in South Carolina close to Myrtle Beach!!!!
