When the judge passes a life sentence he will state the tariff. This is the minimum amount of time that the offender will have to serve before being considered for release on parole. This could vary from approx 7 - 30 years depending on the circumstances surrounding the offence, the offender's previous convictions and the risk that he poses.
When the tariff is served he will then be assessed to see whether he is suitable for release. If not, he will remain in prison until he is deemed safe to release.

It depends on the individual, his/her mental state,the circumstances etc. 7 - 10 years for the Jamie Bulger murderers. Life itself for people like Ian Brady, Myra Hindeley and the Soham killers.

he would be charged as a y.o (young offender if he got life he would spend 4 years in a y.o.institute then he would be moved to the cons (21 and over then it would really depend on behavior and if he got a recommendation on how long to serve inside but usually its 12 to 14 years depending on how bad the murder was and who his q.c was

yes he will one life sentence is about 7 years but nowadays people serv tons of life sentences and for murder the minumum would be 20 yrs or more if i am right

was 15 years and time off for good behaviour 9 years the ways its going here they will be getting community service its wrong if you get life it should mean life as there is no deterent these days
