First, doctors can't KNOW. They go by the statistics of people who've been in that state before.
And the prognoses ("two months to live") can be way off, as the true courses vary a LOT in how long people continue to live.
Not all instances of a given condition go the same. So there are "miracle" cures all the time (I don't mean statistically, but, in the whole world, a lot of people whose condition wasn't the norm).
The rare instance is more noticed than the more common. One sees the odd news report of survivors who "should" be dead, judging by averages (which are never accurate for ALL individuals).
There can also be a placebo effect. If you "KNOW" that you're going to get better, your body does a better job of healing itself.
Yes, there's the "friend of a neighbor's cousin-in-law's babysittter" that also forms the basis for urban legends (buying a dog in Mexico that turned out to be a giant rat -- right).
I think here is that part of it is, something that happens, say, 1/1,000 times, you're much less likely to be talking to the actual person, whereas the person who got better has hundreds of "cousin's neighbor's hair dresser" type connections.
So one story is in the posession of "god knows" how many people.
And, of course, there's out-and-out fraud. Curing someone who isn't really sick to begin with, for instance. Or just making stories up.

Did you know that science has actually proven that praying works. In actuality it has been tested by scientists and has been proven. You know why, because at the quantum level mind can maniptulate matter. What causes prayer to work is that the mind is focusing on a particular outcome and this is a form of measurement, and this measurement causes matter to become what the person is praying for. Mind has the power to manipulate matter, this is quantum physics. look into it, it is very interesting. Oh, by the way, I was told by 5 doctors that I wan infertile that I would never coneive a child, I now have two healthy babies, you may not believe that is a miracle, but my doctors said to me it was a miracle and they have no idea how I was able to conceive my children. And maybe science could come up with a logical answer but so far my doctors are still befuddled. My brother had a life threatening birth defect and the doctor could not fix it, he tried twice and told my mom that he was sorry there was nothing he could do to fix my baby brother. My mom told them to test my brother once more and the birth defect was no longer there, my brother's doctor said it was a miracle, that the body could not just repair a defect like what my brother had on its own, but that is what happened. My brother is now 14 and completely healthy.

Because people talk about the survivors. They do not talk as much as those that die as expected.
The interesting thing is that these 'miracle' cures effect all religions and the non-religious equally.
Presumably God cures all the non true believers just to stop there being compelling evidence for his existence and so removing the option of free will.
Yeah, that is way more likely than they are just random.
And how come we have not had anyone resurrected from the dead (like dead for 24 hours) any more? Or cures of certain diseases, like AIDS, malaria or other chronic diseases.
Still no miracles cures of people who have lost limbs either.

I know a couple of those "miracle" people. 1 of them had 3 months to live according to "doctors" so she went to a holistic doctor. It's been 6 years and she's very healthy now, no trace of cancer whatsoever.
The 2nd one had chemo along with herbs and very healthy eating habits, same thing, she is completely cancer free.
I believe that the pharmaceutical lobbies are extremely rich and powerful and do not want the knowledge about alternative medicine to spread. It's all about money. My naturopath has testimonies of dozens of people she cured of cancer and health. It's no "miracle", just another approach to healing.
If you hear of any alternative/holistic medicine seminars in your area, just go and you'll find many of those people who survived death sentences prognostic from their original "doctors".

I'm not sure what your experiences are...but I know many people of have died of cancer, three grandparents, a baseball coach, a friends dad....and I only know two people that survived and that was breast cancer.
So in my experience surviving is rare and death is common when dealing with Cancer.

I know someone personally who had stage 4 cancer- Actually 3 people! Two are pastors and one is a woman who I used to go to a bible study with-- they were all diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, I think one was even worse...told they were pretty much going to die-- and they left it in God's hands, prayed continually and many others prayed as well....they were all healed completely.
God is truly amazing and I give Him the glory! (It is not like someone walked up and touched them and said "BE HEALED!" -- it was all the power of prayer, and them trusting God with their lives)

If it happens its just a coincidence. There is no evidence at all that believers live longer or survive diseases any differently to non believers.

I don't know the guys name, but he's an evangelist that heals people in his audiences by screaming at them and smacking them on the head.
The police and FBI have outed this guys ridiculous claims over and over, proving them falsified. But people still will believe.
The weak mind will lay claim to whatever promises to feed it what it wants, be damned logic and reasoning.
