I have a cat that doesn't moew. She can, and I've hear her like when the vet takes her temp, but for the most part she chooses not to. Some cats are just like that.

Some cats do this, so don't worry. My cat did it when she was a kitten. It was the cutest thing to watch. I did some research and learned about the silent meow. When she got older, she became more vocal although she doesn't really meow very often. She has a funny chirp when I'm not serving dinner fast enough that always makes me smile.

My cat, Nicky does this when he is excited. I asked the vet, thinking it may be something unusual, but she said that, many times, cats are meowing- it's just too high pitched for human ears to hear. It's not necessarily the "norm" for a cat to be overly vocal, that's the result of domestication and an attempt to "communicate" with us. Cats use body language and scent to communicate with each other, more often than not.

I have a Kitty just like this, and it's completely natural for him. He was born silent. According to a vet, this vocal just didn't develop (genetic flaw?). He's heathly, active, interactive with other cats, so all is well. Certainly a positive contrast to a VERY vocal Siamese that I have! A welcome relief when the Siamese is sleeping!! ;)

It's nothing to worry about. Some cats are 'whisperers', or even silent- at least, until something happens to give them a reason to yell!

Sometimes my cats will do this. Usually it's when they're pleading with me to do something they want, like open a door or put food out early :)

One of my cats only lets out a very faint squeak. My other cat can wake the neighbourhood, I figure they even themselves out. lol

It's just a sign of getting old. They loose their voice, but they are still really normal, but if you feel unsure go see the vet.
