Cats will usually 'wind up' like this for short periods of time but not all the time. We usually call it 'getting a wild hair' and it's often accompanied by a wild look in the eyes. It's their way of burning off excess energy but cats typically rest much more than they are active.

You might try to get some extra cat toys or places where the cat can explore/hide (moving boxes are fun, so are grocery bags).

Cats are crazy, but we love them anyway.

Cats, when they are young are typically very very energetic.
They are also nocturnal. ( most active at night). This would explain why she terrorized your dad. As she gets older her energy level should subside a little. I have 3 cats. They are all somewhat lazy but one of them is weirder than the other 2. She likes to go an pick up socks and drag them around the house. She brings them to my feet and meows. She also likes to drag around my wife's old beenie babies. It's the funniest thing. But her favorite toy is elastic hair bands. She throws these things all over the house for hrs. Enjoy your cat's energy. Once it is gone you'll wish your cat could play more.

If you really want to have good fun with your cat. Pick up a pen laser. They go nuts over these things. Just be careful of their eyes and other peoples eyes.

Some cats are naturally like that. And some cats will go-go-go for a while, then when they stop they just kind of flop to sleep.

If your cat is under 2 years old, she'll probably start calming down soon.

My cat is exactly like that. Some cats just have tonnsss of energy. She'll settle down eventually. If she gets too annoying, spray her with some water. (That usually works for us)
