Well, aren't you conscious of the detrimental effect of drinking ?. By the time you can catch the cancer disease, you can have a hand in a car accident, and contribute to your own death...The same thing for having unhealthy sex, you can easily catch the incurable AIDS. See? It's the wisdom of God that those lethal diseases have no efficient cure until now. Islam is meant to protect the human being's body and soul! I know that it 's quite hard to give up a "nasty" habit ,but you should have a heart. Come on, a strong will and every thing is gonna be all right. Within healthy boundaries you will find the true meaning of happiness: moderation and satisfaction.I wish the very best! Enlightenment :) I'll be the happiest person in the world if you truely convert to Islam. Peace:)

Alcohol contains some good and some evil, but the evil is greater than the good.

Don't let anything come between you and Islam, Shaitaan will try and convince you not to convert but if you beleive in Allah and the prophet Muhammaed peace be upon him as being the final messenger you should become muslim.

Everything you refrain from in this world for the sake of Allah, Allah will give you something better.

Speaking to other converts who used to drink may help you or you could spend more time with people who don't drink, take up drinking tea instead :@

I wish you all the best

take care

Islam bans alcohol because it is harmful to your body. This shouldn't be a problem. I am happy that I am Muslim and I am not allowed to drink. If I weren't Muslim I would be hurting myself.
As for getting up early, well I don't get up early to pray. I know it is not good but this shouldn't be a big problem because I can pray at anytime. Of course I don't get the same award as if I pray on time but it is better than not praying at all.

As for sex before marriage, ask yourself those question,
-If every person can have sex before marriage, why did they invent marriage then?
- Do you guarantee the person you are having sex with doesn't have diseases?
- If it happens and the girl got pregnant, how is the child going to guarantee his/her right?
- If the girl had sex with more than one person, how does she know the father? DNA testing is possible but expensive right?
- What if the guy suddenly decided to leave the pregnant woman and go with another one, what would be the future of the baby like?
- Condoms!, they are not always good protectors?

Islam banned those things for good reasons.

Peace

EDIT: kudzu. genus: Pueraria, species: lobata. Increases blood levels of acetaldehyde, causing intensified feelings of hangover.

It does take time to get used to waking up to pray, but after a while, the body adjusts and you can fall back asleep as if nothing happened.

I would suggest trying to get married soon if there is going to be trouble with Islamic laws about modesty.

There is actually a plant that if you ingest it, it makes it very uncomfortable physically to drink alcoholic beverages. This might be part of an overall solution that involves medicines, counselling, etc. Drinking is an expensive habit that does take away from one's health, so it is always a good idea to stop.

it is forbidden in christianity too, i was a christian , i converted to islam 2 years ago. sadly the things you list are sins of this world, temptations, and distractions. they are truly not worth losing paradise. if you were serious about islam this wouldnt be a problem for you. but you seem more like an unbeliever, because you dont want to put God above a simple worldy desire. and sex before marruage. that has been forbidden in all religions. so you have to know most muslims wait . my friends husband was 35 when he got married to her and he was still a virgin, my husband and i both were virgins he was 27 i was 19. i am 21 now. we fear God , we know hell is not where we want to go. you need to get the priorities straight.

You can overcome this problem ,

Can you limit your drink habit to "just before going to bed"?

if yes then go the Mosque IMAM nearest to you , and tell him all truth ,

I am sure you'll get a way into Islam , and eventually quit to drink , with your free will , Insha Allah.

it is forbidden in Islam to drink , but that doesn't mean you cant be Muslim,or your not a Muslim,if you really want to be Muslim try drinking less and day by day you would end up stopping hopefully, may Allah guide you to the truth.

Its not the problem with the religion but it is with the people. And majority followers of Islam look to me very conservative and non-progressive and tend to blame the west for every ill and problem in their society. They have failed to modernize their societies by saying that it would corrupt them like bad western influence and hiding every attempt in the cover of Islam.
I feel very un-comfortable with a group of muslim women wearing the full burqa. So I avoid such places; if I happen to be in such areas.
I feel very un-comfortable with loudspeakers blaring at full volume from mosques 5 times a day--disturbing the peace in the neighbourhood, in muslim majority areas and countries in this world.
I feel very un-comfortable when muslims living in western countries refuse to celebrate the Christmas even as a token like putting some lights in front of their house, etc. It does not make them un-muslims but it gives a community feeling. They never participate.
I feel very un-comfortable when Muslim clerics issue death fatwa to progressive writers, etc. or anybody who might have criticized their religion or something from their community.
I feel very un-comfortable with them when they allow men to visit a prostitute afte a Imam performs the marriage at the entrance of the prostitute and performs the divorce next day---making it acceptable to Islam.
I feel very un-comfortable with them when they punish a women who is raped instead of punishing the men.
I feel very un-comfortable with them when they kill their women who want to live a modern life or maybe want to convert to some other faith.

But I don't see muslims having problem with drinking or smoking. But don't do that in a muslim country. You never know what is in store for a non-muslim.

You should recognize what you are saying. "This religion really speaks to me and I believe it is true, but I don't want to be a part of it because I would have to stop drinking." Sounds pretty stupid, doesn't it?

If drinking is THAT important to you, you should stop.
