He surely wants to play. Have you play with him using your fingers as a bait? If so, please stop. It is not a good idea as your cat will identify flesh as being a toy. You should also stop the bitting right now before it gets out of hands. A lot of people comes here on Yahoo Answer with serious bitting problems and it's because they didn't stop the kitty right at the start of it. Whenever he bits, make him understand that it is not allowed (just like you would a baby - No hitting please) by using a low tone punishing voice or whatever you know works as a punishment.

Some cats will playfully bite to tell you to 'back off' of a certain area (usually the hind end near the tail, or the belly). Some cats just don't like to be touched there (others do!). That might be part of what your cat is telling you (depending on what you are doing just prior to the biting).

He would like more playtime, attention, toys, or all of the above. You can safely make cheap toys at home with a large paper bag or even just a crumpled up piece of paper. It might be nice to go to the store and pick out of holiday gift for Kitty though; they're faily cheap. You can get a toy on a safe string for around $1.99 at Target.

is there food in there bowl? If he was sick you would know he would leave traces. But maybe he is just being playful try giving him a string see if he runs after it.
