It WON'T matter! Anyone who says otherwise has no clue how minuscule 9/16" diameter change really is!
Now going from 265/75/16 (31.5) to 365/65/16 (34.5) has thrown my speedo off about 3 to 5 depending on speed.

I was thinking about buying the 235/70/15 today but the thought of getting slightly less gas mileage killed it. I guess looks stops being important at that point. OK, I know, it would be a very small amount but I need that money for school (and I drive 40K a year). It may not matter to you. Also, the slight height increase (yes I know slight) may make a difference. Check tirerack.com or discounttire.com for your correct size. If you click "specs" you can find nice charts with size and hieght info. The only picture I could find with these tires and my truck had rolled over :( Here is the ebay link (but it will only be good for a few days).

Your tire will be 9/16" taller. It will change your speedometer slightly.
It seems that most of these posters don't know that the 70 is a ratio of the width. Its not a distance.
outside diameter of the tire = wheel diameter (15" = 381 mm) + (sidewall x 2)
235 x .70 = 164.5 mm side wall height (710 mm diameter)
225 x .70 = 157.5 mm side wall height (696 mm diameter)
710 mm - 696 mm = 14 mm = .551" ~ 9/16"
K - Did you read the word slightly? I didn't say it would be a huge difference. I said it would be a slight difference as in 1-2 mph on the highway.

The main issue: Your tire will also be about 7mm taller, which will affect your speedometer/odometer/ABS by a small percentage. With a tire larger than stock, your actual speed will be faster than what the speedo shows...maybe only a 1-2 MPH in your case
Other differences: Wider tire will help dry pavement traction (not a problem with Escapes though, i've driven several), but the taller sidewall will negate any extra cornering grip. Wider also doesn't nesecarily help in wet/snow, thats more an issue of tread block design/rubber compound. Wider/Taller also means heavier which can have a negative effect on mileage.

It won't "hurt" anything.
It may change handling ever so slightly, and may reduce your mileage per gallon a little because you are pushing more rubber surface on the road.... friction you know !!!
Other than that.... not an issue at all.
Hope this helps.

BFH is an idiot. The tire would be slightly wider and not a problem.
