How can you believe that homosexuality is a choice? I am stunned by the attitudes that place such a heavy burden on homosexuals. They have not chosen to be homosexual anymore than anyone chooses to be straight.

I'm looking for something other than scripture here. I know all the scriptures. Can you give me some scienific evidence that homosexuality is choosen?

Biblio, many scientific tests show that the homosexual brains are different. I'm too lazy to look it up right now...you should know this already.

Oops, should have been 'chosen'.

Cadisney, I didn't finish your response, as it doesn't apply to me. You asked how I could judge alcoholics, and not homosexuals. See...the problem with that is that I don't judge alcoholics either. I am rather offended that you publically assumed I did.

Disciple, a person can't lust after someone he/she can have? You give me your definitions of words that are biased with your beliefs. Jesus never once said a word about homosexuality, and you know it. If it was such a huge sin as to send someone to hell, don't you think He would have mentioned it? What were the two commands Christ gave? Perhaps that will give you some perspective.

I hate this, and it is part of the reason I don't like going to church anymore. Let them come, and let the Holy Spirit speak to them. Trust me, they've heard the scriptures over and over again, one more recitation won't hurry up anything, if there were something to hurry up and change. Let people be who they naturally are, and let their relationship with Christ lead them.

I personally believe that homosexuality is something that you are born with, just like others are born to be "straight". No matter what you or I say, those that do not want to believe new scientific evidence, will quote all kinds of things and interpret whatever, to their own way of thinking. We cannot change others, because everybody has free will, but we can voice our opinions, and support our gay friends.

I think it is very sad that people choose to hate and judge, since every religion. in their basis, has the mention that love and acceptance is the way to "God".

I choose love and understanding and have many gay friends that I love and admire. It is a pity that those that judge do not have the experience to have gay friends, because they are missing out on so much.

I personally feel very sad for those that judge and condemn
because they miss out on so much joy in life.

Love and peace

First of all, let's get something straight. Just because someone says homosexuality is a "choice" does not necessarily mean that someone specifically chose to be homosexual.

For instance, I prefer brunettes to blondes. Is it encoded into my DNA? Of course not. Did I wake up one morning and say "I like brunettes"? Of course not. My brain made a subconscious decision that brunettes are more attractive. In the same way, a homosexual's brain made a subconscious decision that someone of the same sex was more attractive.
I personally think it is a combination of both your DNA and your surroundings that lead to this subconscious decision.

Saying that, I have not heard of many people telling homosexuals to "be straight". Sure, a few extreme groups try to change them, but the success rate is mild at best. Most Christians say that homosexuality is not a sin, and being homosexual is not sinful, but having homosexual sex is a sin.

You are correct. Autopsies have been performed on heterosexual and homosexual brains. The hypothalamus size was significantly different.

In addition, the latest theory is that during pregnancy, the mother secretes a particular hormone which causes the change in this section of the brain.

And people here are obsessed with the sexual aspect of homosexuals - but that is not what it is all about. It is also feeling that special love for another of the same sex.

There has been evidence that homosexuality is a result of environmental factors. I don't have all the 'science' down but I'm not sure that's even appropriate. You are talking about a matter of the heart. I believe that when our young and impressionable hearts are exposed to certain sinful behavoirs we often make poor judgements about life based on the evil we have seen. Homosexuality is one of the results. So I would say you have been lied to and you just believed the lie. We all have believed lies about various and sundry things in life. Unfortunately we also suffer the natural consequences for acting on the lies we believe. The Good News is that God is truth and He sent His son Jesus to set us free from those lies.

Lies that homosexualinty have been linked with: Men are evil.
Men can't be trusted. I feel more fulfilled acting like a man than a woman. Man and woman relationships are only painful. The woman is always taken advantage of by the man.
Week women want a man.

Many of these lies we believe because of the sinful situations we have seen and/ or experienced.

The truth is: This is not how God made life nor how He wants it to be. If we seek Him and follow His ways what he has designed will be good, all good. Husbands will honor and love their wives. Wives will respect and cherish their husbands. They will enjoy each other and their relationship with each other. There will be joy, peace, and love instead of sorrow, division, heartache, and bitterness.

A good book on the subject is : The Broken Image by Leanne Payne. Published by Baker Books. 1981, 1996

May the Good Lord bless you with His truth and my you be set free from the lies the enemy planted in your life. FREEDOM!!!! That's what Jesus came to do... to Set Us Free!

It is not a choice, it has been written in Luke 11:24-26,
Matthew 12:43-45, and Matthew 5:28.

In these 3 passages, The Word of God, Jesus the Christ, Himself speaks of things that the spirit must suffer when it is reborn and grows to the age adulthood.

Adultery is the sin of Lust, lust is the sin of wanting that which is not yours to have. Once you have chosen to give your love to one and forsake all others, you can not then chose another

This is Adultery and it is fornication. It has nothing to do with marriage. It is your unwillingness to keep a promise concerning your choice of the one God has joined together with you, no man can put asunder, (no man can come between)

Man is what the spirit made in the image of God the Father is called. Man is spirit, than God made him (man) male and female.

Why follow the words of another, when you have the Words of your savior to follow. Always in your heart think of what Jesus would do and do it. Love one another as I have loved you.

Everyone is born with tendencies to do certain things. People that act like we have no right to ever judge other peoples behavior are people I just dont understand. We gather ourselves and live in societies to do just that. We do it to maintain and to support a certain type of community that we wish to live in. In order to do that you have to have some sort of moral code and place judgements on personal behavior. You may not draw the line of homosexuality. Others do. Why is it you can pass judgement on an alcoholic even though its been proven that some people are prone to alcoholism, but then you condemn those that pass judgement on homosexuals. You draw a different line on where right and wrong should be and then condemn others for not thinking exactly like you.
There are physical and emotional and societal issues and arguments against making homosexual behavior a normal and perfectly acceptable way of life. Do you people that condemn those for condemning homosexuality, also condemn those that make polygamist judgements or even incestual judgements against people (if children arent a possibility in the incestual relationship).

Why is it you can judge one group but then condemn others for judging specific actions as immoral?

Just because something is inherent in a persons nature doesnt mean that person can indulge in that behavior. A lot of people are born with a lot of diff tendencies. Anger, infidelity, alcoholism, addictive behaviors. Should everyone be able to do whatever they want just because they were born that way?

In a society we draw lines on morality. Just because your lines are drawn somewhere else doesnt make you any more correct.

Wow
Way to take the easy way out in response to my answer. I think you fully understand what I meant when I said some people draw diff lines on where to judge. (do you not judge alcoholics that drive, do harm to their family by being constantly drunk, do anything to get their alchol?)

You do make judgements in your life. Instead of addressing my actual point you try to skirt the issue by focusing on a nonessential part.

Homosexuality is chosen. There are many examples of persons who lived their lives heterosexual and were corrupted by homosexuals, and then turned homosexual. They then state that men and women were meant to be bi-sexual, because they want cover for their sin. The fact is if homosexuality was not a choice, then gay people would not have to try to seduce non-gays. They know though that people are weak, and most are curious. They also know that once bitten by the homosexuality bug it is a hard one to shake. In today's world with the media influence, many young people grow up feeling that it is okay to be gay, they see nothing wrong with sleeping with both sexes, and having gay friends. So it is no wonder that the number of gays is increasing. But if homosexuality is biological, then why can't homosexuals make other homosexuals?

Maybe receive therapy. Homosexuality was recognized as a social disorder in the 70's. The problem is the politically correct age that we live in no longer recognizes that homosexuality is not natural. Pedophiles say that they cant help going after young kids either. Its not natural for them either, its something in their brain. That is my personal opinion. I will be called a bigot, but I don't care. The people that call me a bigot are the enablers of homosexuals.

It's funny how easily people can believe certain things, such as the thought that people would willingly choose to be persecuted, discriminated against, and denied rights. Because obviously, we ALL want that.

I do not think that homosexuality is a choice, but I still think that it is immoral for a person to have sex outside of marriage. This applies to homosexuals and heterosexuals.

I understand that homosexuals are not permitted to marry, but they are permitted to profess their love for each other in ways other than sex. Heterosexual couples who are not married should act in the same way.
