I am in england studying for a law degree. When I first came here my parents were together and working so they could support me. Unfortunately, my whole world fell apart in 2006. mom and my step dad divorced and lost their business..so mom and i are broke. I have been trying to get a job for a really long time but to no avail.
I told my aunt of the situation and she said I could move in with her. I happily did. When I moved in however I noticed this attitude from her. She would hardly, if ever, talk to me. They have 2 sons and 3 bedrooms but they put me in the dining room (made up a bed there etc). I accepted it because I coulnt do any better. I gave her 50 pounds the first month but couldnt afford anymore. Now, 4 months later, she wants me to move out. She and her husband told my mom that it isnt convenient to have me there anymore, because access to their dining room is not as easy. I have nowhere to go and she knows this. My mom cant stop crying im looking for a job. please, help!

I'm not sure about england but here in the us, there are low income housing apartments that people qualify for. As for your schooling, prehaps there are some scholarships or other funding you may qualify for and prehaps you could live on campus. many colleges offer students jobs on campus to help pay for their tuition and room and board. talk to the school'd finacial officers and just keep looking for a job. Does england have a mcdonalds? You could always get a job at someplcae like that that is willing to work around your school schedule. i am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. Try to keep a positive attitude... things are bound to get better, it just may take time. just have faith, do some researc, keep a positive attitude and always remember you deserve the best life has to give. Keep an opened mind, do what you can. good luck and God bless.

Are you saying that you have been living there for three months free?if so you have to see the point they are not a charity and for all you know may be struggling. You could get a job if you WANTED to ,my bloke is an area manager for a large supermarket chain and they never have enough staff, this time of the year the situation is desperate. You should clean toilets if that is all you can get. Life is not free, they have looked after you for four months its time you stood on your own two feet.

Its probably a good time to be reassessed for your grant/bursary. Ask around at Uni & see if theres any rooms free either off campus or within a student letting.
Everyone else manages financially, ask them how!
Besides... its normal to take out student loans & then u pay them off when u've complete ur degree & are employed,.
As for your auntie, tell you u understand & that you are looking for elsewhere & if she can bear with you a little longer u'd be grateful. U will really have to prove that you are looking tho! Meanwhile, try to offer more help within her house to cover rent costs.
After you move.,,, ur gonna need a job.. students do well in part time evening jobs.. but u will know that im sure!

I think you should be able to get some support from England's government.
At the same time, try to learn something simple like painting so u can work for someone part time...
accept it or not, life is tough, so u have to do ur best to get out of this awkward situation.

If your at University can you not live on the Campus? I understand they don't turn anyone away if they're desperate.
With regard to jobs, what about bar work, there are always pubs and clubs looking for part time staff, or how about a cleaning job, if you look in the local paper there is always work for part time cleaners for various times, during the day or night.

I would suggest talking with someone at your school for guidance. Here you would have the option of applying for financial aid which could cover rent and living as well as school. Financial aid can be grants from the state or government or loans.

Here we can apply for "indepedent status", which means we are self supporting, not relying on any other income but what we produce ourselves.

Like I said the school where you attend will have answers. I am sure they have delt with similar situations before.

Bless you.
Try getting a little job. Maybe you and your mum together. A job in a shop? Both of you working will double your income - Also, she wont kick you out if you are helping. She could get child benefits, and get money that way. If you are absolutely broke, this is the way to go, and build up and up and up.
Hope this helps hun.

You might want to ask your aunt to listen because you need to talk.. let her know you're looking for a job, and that it may take a while for you to move, but that you plan to move as soon as possible.

that is my best solution.

can you apply for college grants where you are? if so, do it.

i'm sorry you've found yourself in this situation, and i hope things improve quickly. sending hugs

Get a job! Could you live on campus? It sounds like you have no choice but to support yourself.
