Since your going to be mixing it anyway, you can go with any rail vodka (Nickolai, Banker's.) You can't go wrong with Smirnoff though. It actually rated quite high in taste tests compared to other brands like Absolut & Stoli.

The premium (costly) vodka's are best for martini's.

Here's a little trick:

Buy the largest bottle of the cheapest vodka you can find. Then run it through a Britta or Pur water filter. Run the whole bottle through, and then run it through another time.

You will be AMAZED at how much better it tastes, and you save at least 10 bucks.

Smirnoff
Absolut
Skyy

Don't go for anything in a plastic bottle! I.e. Tavarsky or McCormick

You can't go wrong with a 750 ml bottle of Absolut, in any flavor they make.......and here in So Cal it's about 18 bucks a bottle.........Enjoy!!!
