Please note; while I think this IS one awesome firearm, I do not suggest it for hunting. And as others will tell you machineguns require special tax stamp licensing.
But I think it would be just the thing for law enforcement use and for those darn coyotes killing your calves or chickens. A ranchers best friend! :p
Your opinion of this firearm please.

I agree that; it would be worthless at long range
and that its comparison to a shotgun is ridiculous.
I worked as a ranch hand years ago and had to shoot lots of coyotes. Trying to shoot several before they scattered was difficult even with a semi-auto shotgun. The 180 would have been nice for that at close range. I used the Ruger mini14 for ranch work and now use a 25-06 for varmint hunting.
Yep the 180 would be a fun thing to play with that’s why I put this question up.

I agree with you, however I would not recommend sacrificing accuracy for speed or rate of fire.* Give me a 22-250 bolt action Remington, Winchester or Savage any day for coyotes equipped with a great scope.*

.22 rimfire automatics have been used for training and some special applications. a select fire .22 could be used as a small game hunter on single fire or for close in larger game firing bursts - a deer hit with a 6 round burst at 50 meters would be about the same as hit with a 1/2 load of #3 buck from a shot gun. Philipines had some developement on a rural militia type .22 auto, developers died before completed- was same guy who developed 'Squigman(sic) or Sqibman' rifle sold in early 80s. Thout was that .22 ammo was available and rural paramilitaries could use the auto feature on bandits and Hukbalahap/communist trouble makers. Ar7s and Ruger 10-22s have been turned into automatic arms for survival rifles for a couple military tests- worked out fairly good but were not high priority projects. Calico .22 rotary feed tube magazines with 50 and 100 rounds have been tested- the legal hassles keep them from civilian markets mostly, the 9mm version has found some sales. 1986 cutoff date for civilian full auto possesion has restricted development here. A swiss test of .22 Scorpion version showed some use for training and security/survival military use- the original .32 /7.65 pistol cartridge was also good but the supply consideration for certain areas was main concern for a couple of possible users. Hassle has been the feeding from magazine of rimmed, lead bullet , relatively long cartridge- the .25 browning pistol cartridge is very reliable feeding and extracting, the .32 is almost the same reliability and power about like .22 mag in moderate barrel length. Pan magazines, Ruger(Mannlicher) type rotary, Calico tubes seem best feeding large capacity magazines for the .22 cartridge.

It is pretty sweet, unfortunately most of us will not ever be able to even hold one let alone own one and loading that magazine, whoa! When I think of varmints I think of Ground Squirrels, Rabbits, Gophers, even large rats. I fell in love with the Ruger M77 22 Magnum all weather. All stainless steel construction with a synthetic stock virtually impervious to rain, snow, anything you could throw at it. The accuracy of a bolt action with a revolutionary 9-shot rotary magazine and with 22 Mag you can shoot all day and not hurt your wallet. Add a 3X9 scope and the fun begins. You just can't wait for one to stick it's little head up. Although I realize 22 Mag is not big enough for coyote, that's why my 308 wouldn't be far away.

For two legged varmints? YES !! I knew an officer back home that went to work in a small town next to the reservation and the cops before would get there butts kicked when the natives got drunk and jumped them, when he started there he carried two attack dogs and an 180. The first time the natives got "restless" he invited them out to the street where he proceeded to blast a concrete block into dust with a mag full of ammo. He then "informed " them of the new town rules and although he never had to shoot anyone , his dogs aquired quiet a taste for natives.

The article seems to contradict itself ! A .22 cal. is NOT a shotgun and I don't see this as being a good varmint gun. The .22 is too small and range is too limited for what I would consider a gun for coyotes, etc.

to seek smaller activity, Cotote and smaller you won't be able to use a great rifle like a 308 and 30-06.... the main important around you need to use could be i could say is a 22-250..... or a 22 magnum or 22 long.... all of those could be stumbled on with a mag.... yet shooing a fox or jack rabbit with an AK or AR-15 will flow away not something left of the animal.....

I don't think much of it for a varmint rifle, at least not for four-legged varmints, but it would sure be a hoot to shoot.
I knew a Game Warden who carried an M-3 Grease Gun. After he cleaned up a pack of feral dogs with two magazines, folks quit giving him guff.

I think it would be a fun toy, but not much practical use except as the article described. It sounds almost like a aim able claymore mine. It would be devastating hosing down a crowd at close range. Hosing down a crowd at close range just isn't something I do a whole bunch of. :)

The gun is a neat novelty, but the best varmit gun around is a good heavy barrel .22-250.
