Recently I have found some interesting questions from my contacts in my inbox, but when I went to answer them I found they were already resolved. This has happened several times this week and it is so frustrating!

I have noticed that the the most interesting answers are often the later answers that were submitted several hours or even days after the question was first posted, whereas many of the early answers seem to be from people who just want a quick two points without thinking too much about it. Also we are all in different countries so people get on the internet at different times of the day.

Well, MaryBlue, I'm hoping that some more of my contacts will answer this and tell me! (Therefore I shall leave this question open as long as possible so that they can do so).

Thank you, John63, you have proved my point!

You're right Pompal, I have sometimes waited too long and my question went to voting. I ask so few questions you'd think I'd be able to cope!

Where's John63 gone? I noticed he got a lot of thumbs down.

I find it's the only way of keeping on top of them, as I religiously go through all the answers to decide the one I prefer to give the points to. I usually don't leave myself with more than 15 at a time to have to go through, and never leave them for more than about 2 days. In my view, it's better to give a best answer, rather than leave it to the voters. I can't stand that.

Well 99 times out of 100, you don't get any answers after 1 hour, so I usually close them after an hour, but since you asked, I'll leave them another day ;-)

I try to leave mine open always longer than the initial time that Yahoo Answers allows. I extend them so I can give my contacts a chance to answer.

Ditto - I waited until the answers dried up and picked the one that was best at the time

Maybe they wanted to close out what they asked because they wanted it completed so they can go off and do things in their life not related to their computer.

Why don't you ask your contacts? Maybe they see something that
answers their question perfectly so they don't need to wait.

Don't know really. I do close a few of my own questions early though.
