Okay. I try to make my decisions based on a feeling of peace and love (expansion) in my heart (Christians call this the Holy Spirit). Usually, I follow this, but yesterday I did not.
I REALLY wanted to buy a mower with the money my grandma gave me for Christmas (our grass is getting really long, and I usually borrow my friend's mower, but wish I didn't have to). I decided to buy a 2nd hand mower from the old man down the road, who fixes them up and sells them cheap (with no warranty). My heart felt empty with my decision... I knew I was being told, "No, don't do it." But I REALLY WANTED to do it, so I did anyway.
The mower worked really well when he demonstrated it to me. My hubby mowed a swath through our "lawn" about 3 meters wide, then it ran out of fuel. But now it won't start. We tried & tried, to no avail.
This morning I prayed to God to make the mower work. Yet I felt emptiness in my heart when I prayed that prayer.
So what is the lesson that this is teaching me?

Just smile... I do absolutely need a mower... I tried asking the landlord to let me have a goat, but he said no... and the neighbours dogs kept breaking in and killing my guinea pigs, when I had them free-range. So yeah, I need a mower.
My problem, I think, is that in my dire need, I was so CERTAIN that I wanted a mower, that I let my desires overpower my gut-feeling (God's inspiration) and my good sense! LOL
Yes, I'm a silly twit at times...
I sure would like to learn how to fix mowers (as one answerer said)? Hmmm... maybe I will go and ask a question about that, lol.

Really God is not so concerned with the lawn. He may not want us to have a superficial keep up with the Joneses lawn, which takes so much time to mow and water and misuse mother earths energy unnecessarily. So That could be your answer. Don't mow the lawn. He may not want yo to have one. If you didn't pray it may have worked. (but we should pray like this. What every be your will lord Let thy will be done. We really don't know what is best for us all the time. We think God is our order supplier, but we are His servants. That is the real problem. He knows what we need and what we want may not be what He wants us to do. Frankly I have a lawn too and I realized unless one has a cow it is usless waste of time. Who ever came up with growing grass is not a very green person. LOL. I'm going to make my yard a whole garden to offer Him all the fruits, vegies and flowers, with no grass. Hope this helps ma. Imagine all the time for God kids and husband without grass.

could be any number of lessons here...
The first that comes to mind is "add fuel"...even a brand new mower won't start if it doesn't have any gas in it!
The second is, "don't buy used machines from old men down the street that don't offer warranties"!
Third, and perhaps most important, God does answer prayers...but if you don't listen to the answer, you have only yourself to blame for a poor decision. Chances are good that your prayer for the mower to work wasn't the first prayer...the first one was the conscious or even subconscious prayer about the decision...the one that gave you the "don't do it" answer. Keep this in mind next time you're standing on a cliff considering the wisdom of jumping off...listen to the "don't do it" because if you jump and then expect God to save you, you're in for a jolting disappointment!

Mumof4 your prayer was answered, but you ignored it. Not only was it answered, you said, be quiet, I am going to do this my way.
See your life is a prayer. You are the prayer. You are the one who sees what it is you desire and you set your intent on that desire. In this case, you wanted something, but you did not allow yourself to want the thing you really needed, which was a reliable mower. You settled, and you got what you settled for.
I have always been interested in photography but when I was in school my mom said that photography was an expensive hobby. However, when I set off for a summer as an exchange student my dad bought me this amazing camera, and he couldn't have known how amazing it was, he just bought what was on sale.
Years later when I had three small children but a yearning for photography, I bought a camera at a yard sale for $15. It worked perfectly and it was the perfect beginner 35mm camera I found out later.
We do get what we ask for, and that is why we need to be very clear about what we are asking, down to the last detail.
So, set your intention, your prayer, that you will have a working mower tomorrow. Let it go, and see what happens.
Please let us know, too.
Much love, Deby

God does exist; and He did answer your prayers yet He does not continuously do the super bang that some human beings assume. once you ask for God to teach you He exists, possibly He did in techniques you probably did no longer assume; possibly the vegetation have been prettier, or the grass became into greener; possibly human beings have been nicer to you; possibly you have been secure against harm or in spite of you tried to do, worked easily, possibly you became extra financially shield. one difficulty that strikes me - you're saying you prayed for an entire 3 hundred and sixty 5 days & God did no longer ans; yet you do no longer point out any definitely undesirable difficulty that surpassed off that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days - possibly that became into your ans. Mark 9:24 at present the boy's father exclaimed, "I do have self assurance; help me triumph over my unbelief!" I prayed this prayer, like for a protracted time and now i think completely. do no longer enable the evil one finished you. God is often there, and He solutions prayers He solutions my prayers continuously. Do you have slightly quiet inner voice? Its the Holy Spirit conversing. I thank God ordinary that my relatives is healthful, chuffed, risk-free, and provided for. He has replied my prayers and that i receive the solutions to my prayers. no count number God is exactly the place you left Him and he would be waiting to receive you once you turn decrease back to Him through fact he's often acceptable next to you waiting so you might call to him. he's answering your prayers and loving you as He loves all His little ones. Matthew 11: 28"Come to me, all you who're weary and under pressure, and that i will supply you relax.

That relying on reason, and not mere feelings is the way to go.
Prayer is one thing, the Holy Spirit and human "feelings" are two different things.
Feelings rise and fall, they come and go. Reality, especially the reality of God, is not based on feelings.
It is merely a mechanical problem. If you ran out of fuel, it may be that some sediment was sucked up in the line from the bottom of the tank. It could be moisture.
Try fresh gas, and a small shot of dry gas mixed in. Try not to flood it. I'm assuming you checked for spark?
Let's hope it isn't something more. a shear pin, for instance.
Then it's more involved.

Are you serious about seeking God? Try asking him what to do? (In regard to the mower or your yard) And ask him what he wants to teach you through this. But you need to be willing to listen, even if you don't like his response. Ask him if he was saying no. And if he says, 'I did say no.' Then apologized to him for not listening and ask him, 'Now what do I do?'
If you really want to walk with Jesus he will meet you. If all you want him for is to be your good fortune genie you might have a problem. How would you feel if that's the only way someone related to you?

Hey there! Just so you know, Christians do not call any FEELING the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Godhead.
As far as prayers go, you can be sure that if you pray in accordance with GOD'S Word, HE will answer likewise.

Add more gas in it you have to prime it by pumping the bulb on the carb. look for a rubber bulb below the gas tank. I beleive the mower will work ok. If not just take it back to the old man, I am sure he will get it going or give you another.

i really dont see where god comes into play here. you bought a cheap lawn mower so cheap things break.
and if you dont put your whole heart into the prayer and dont trust that god can give you what you need, then of course it will never happen. maybe he is answering your prayer in other ways. like by making you realize that you need a new lawn mower.
