I am 13 and I want to lose some weight. I play basketball but its not helping I really need some options. PLease Help!

don't worry about the #'s on the scale!!! you're young and playing sports which is a big plus. focus on how you look and more importantly how you feel NOT how much you weigh. cut out junk in your diet and keep playing basketball. losing weight fast is so bad for your health so please don't try it!

Hi I am sorry to say, you cant lose weight fast. Losing it fast means that after a while the body will gain weight PLUS u will weight more then before, its just not how the system works.
Imagine you have gain weight for like 3 years and you want to lose it and get back to the wight you had 3 years ago, best thing to lose weight is to eat healthy exercise it will keep your weight down in the long run. The body needs nearly the same time it took to gain weight, to lose it if you realy realy want to keep the lower weight so be consistent eat healthy and you will stay in weight otherwise you will gain if you lose weight to fast, good luck

Longer answer: You lose weight in the opposite way you gain weight. If you are obese or over your ideal weight you did not get that way overnight. Therefore, you cannot lose it overnight. All the "crap" on the market that claim that they will make you lose weight fast are lying to you. Their junk may cause you to lose excess water, ( they dehydrate you,) or they may make you expell the contents of your bowel, ( the average person carries 3 to 10 pounds of stool in their bowel,) but that is not true fat loss! To lose weight, you must convert fat back into energy.

You do this in one of two ways. Either you decrease the amount of food you eat or increase your activity level above the level of your present consumption so that you burn all the calories you consume, plus start burning some of the calories stored as fat.

The ideal weight loss senario is to decrease calorie intake and increase physical activity, because if you only cut calories, your body will burn muscle as easily as fat so you can lose muscle weight and that is bad. You need all the muscle you have because muscle burns calories when you move them!

All of this is a daunting task because most people don't know how to sensibly accomplish this. Good news! The only way to lose weight really fast is to risk your health.

Your only "options" are watch what you eat in a day versus the exercise and the amount of calories you burn in a day. If you continue to consume, soft drinks, burgers and fries, for instance, no exercise is going to burn that off.
Change your eating habits to healthier foods . . .salads, yogurts, fruits, drink lots of water (6 glasses daily) and your weight will drop it just takes more than a couple days to change your thinking about food and your lifestyle.

well sweetie, I'm 16 and I'm about 160 and im losing weight by having a healthy diet and working out. you can lose what in a matter of seconds. if you really want to make it as a goal nad work hard on it. like for example, u said you r in basketball. well you have to work on shooting and stuff liek that. well u make it a goal to learn how to do it better. well look it like this. its basketball and u want to work on that best shoot u can do. but to tell you one thing! dont stop eating. that will hurt you really bad. worse than being fat. well best of luck to you.

Best stuff I've seen is recordings. My wife has some as downloads and others she has cds. They actually cut her appetite off, safely. She just listens 15 minutes a day and now she is exercising, eating just half on her plate...the company is online and is called Independent Achievement .Good Luck!
