I have this helmet that was given to my mom by her friend. I know nothing about them. The cookbook is dated 1957 but I have no idea if it's related to the helmet or not.

It was possibly a medic's helmet. The red crescent is the Arab equivalent of the red cross.

It looks like the helmets I took home from Iraq.

The crescent is the Muslim version of the Red Cross. This would have been worn by a medic from a Muslim country.

I would say it about WWII vintage and from an Arab nation since the red crescent is the Arab symbol used instead of the red cross.
