My company provides its employees with free food, snacks (chips and candy) included. Recently I've been diagnosed with inflammation of the liver from too much fat..we're guessing its from high cholesterol/triglycerides from all them chips and junk foods I used to eat. I stopped and I eat lean meats, fish, and vegetables along with fiber and exercise on a daily basis. However, around me I still see people grabbing chips and eating them and just choosing all the fried foods like fries, fried chicken and foods high in fat like pizza. I noticed my coworker behind me got 3 pieces of fried chicken, bag of doritos, with a side of Coke. Im more cautious about my health cause of my liver so I changed but only because of that I notice that people really do eat terribly. Are they shortening their life span? Do you notice this too when you start to eat healthy? I quit because it's damaging my health I wonder if they know what they're doing to their bodies?

to the third poster: nah I don't tell them anything...they eat what they eat, I have no right to tell them otherwise, I just kinda notice this for myself that's all. Because in my experience eating like this has done nothing for me but harm.

I definitely notice other people's food choices, but it is their choice. I don't see how people can eat fried and processed food all the time, but in reality a lot of people eat that for the majority of their meals. Take a look at people's grocery carts when you are you shopping for groceries - it's amazing how few fruits and veggies and unprocessed foods people eat. Usually carts are full of chips, soda, snack cakes, instant meals (ramen, etc.). Good for you for changing your lifestyle. And yes, when I started eating more healthfully and lost a lot of weight is also when I paid more attention to others' habits.

Wow, well I first want to commend you for being strong and determined. :)

It's hard because fried foods, pizza, doritos, soda....they're all so bad for us, but also amazingly delicious to begin with, so the temptation will always be there. I feel that these people, I'm sure, would like to eat healthier, but unlike you they haven't really found that "slap in the face" moment where they finally realize that they are doing wrong to their bodies and need to change things. Especially since these bad foods are being provided for FREE..it's hard to refuse a free meal.

I don't know if there's anything you can do about it. This is a decision they need to realize and make for themselves.

Kudos! :)

My guess is they don't have a clue what it does to their bodies. Recently, I've started eating more healthy because my husband and I are planning to have baby, but I didn't realize just how bad the chips and fatty foods were for you until I did a little research. You could inform them. . . but then again they probably don't want to hear.

I think it's wrong for people to designate themselves as food police. Everyone is responsible for themselves and what they eat is up to them. It may take a health crisis such as you found out, to change their eating habits. But in the meantime, lay off the urge to control them.

Everyone knows that to much fried food and junk food is bad for you that is why it's called junk food. So let them do what they like at their own peril.
