Citrus-Rum Glaze
3 cups orange juice
1 1/3 cups light brown sugar
1 orange, zested
1 bay leaf
1 cinnamon stick
2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns
8 whole cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons dark rum
Make the glaze by combining the orange juice, brown sugar, orange zest, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, peppercorns, cloves and allspice in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Continue to cook at a brisk simmer until the mixture has reduced in volume to just over 1 cup and is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 30 minutes. Remove from the heat, add the rum, and set aside to cool.

Try this and it uses a crock pot so it doesn't tie up your oven!
Ham with Cherry Sauce
3 to 4 lb boneless fully cooked ham
1/2 cup apple jelly
2 tsp prepared mustard
2/3 cup ginger ale
1 can cherry pie filling
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
Score surface of ham making diamond shapes about 1/2 inch deep. In small bowl combine jelly mustard and 1 tablespoon of ginger ale; rub over the surface of the ham. Cut ham in half, place in 5 qt slow cooker. Cover and cook on low 4 to 5 hours. Baste with juices toward end of cooking time. For sauce, place pie filling in sauce pan. Combine cornstarch and remaining ginger ale; stir into pie filling until well blended. Bring to a boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

You can use any citrus fruit. Appricots work well too. Add about 1/2 cup packed brown sugar and poke ham with whole cloves for best flavor.

Sure, you can use orange juice, or apple juice.
Choose honey, or maple syrup, instead of brown sugar.
