Disibility and Tax?

My mother on disibility she pay her decription insurrance and co-pay and suport 4 kids.Can She file Tax?Thanks.

Tax refunds are based on having too much tax withheld on your paychecks or being able to qualify for refundable credits.

If you mom is not working she wouldn't have any taxes withheld nor would she qualify for either of the refundable credits.

Bottom Line: She is not eligible for a refund unless she has a job.

Unless someone else can come up with a better answer, she will need to file a tax return reporting the disability income as income and since she is supporting four kids, it is highly unlikely that she will have any tax liability.
