I think the major problem this day in age is that parents are afraid to parent . They are afraid of not being their kid's friends. You have to have rules and some kind of routine or else the kids will take over the house and have you wrapped around their fingers. There has to be a little bit of friendship and a whole lot of parenting because if your kids are out of hand before they are even teenagers then you are just asking for problems in their teens. We have so many things out there drugs, alcohol, sex ,std's, pregnancy not to mention the crimes they comitt. I'm horrified that I will have teens in about 6 years. Good luck !

Yes, a parent that is so paranoid of their child getting into trouble that they deny them friends, any social activity other than school, no television or radio. My mom was this way and it took me a long time once I moved out to come out of my shell and make friends. I appreciate what she was trying to do, but she took it to the extreme.

In some VERY extreme cases maybe but on a whole no.
Most are too self absorbed to raise their children properly these days.

I don't think many parents are hard enough. Too many of the once I know let their children run all over them.

too hard would include taking away prom for something small, or of course a quick hand at the younger ages... mostly though I think people are way too easy on their children and they just get too lazy to focus on what their children are doing and stick to punishments!!
