For the same reason people say they're interested in understanding why some people don't believe in god, or that they want to understand evolution, and then choose as Best an opposite view.
Yes, it's infuriating, but it's not one-sided. As an atheist, I've answered hundreds of questions by people saying they wanted to understand, only to see them pick a "They're just sinners who will burn" type answer or "Evolution is bunk".
Not to mention the clearly stupid "questions" where they mangle the atheist or scientific perspective.

People are becoming more and more foul spirited by the day. It's difficult to find truly decent people anymore. Many have become hard hearted, vile, and sadistic in their ways. And, those tormented by their own depravity have the need of infecting others with it. It's like a disease or a fire that gradually spreads until it has latched onto everything that is tangible. In this case misery truly does love company.
Go to a family video store. You'll see some of the most gruesome and horrific images you can imagine in full view of children. These images are far worse than standard pornography. Society no longer possesses (or condones) the moral integrity to keep our children from exposure to such garbage. Then, what can you expect from a nation that murders its little babies by the millions, and boasts of it? Our society passionately protects the right to murder innocence. How sick is that? And, we should really expect the same social degeneration to contain itself in respect to people of faith?
People have a tendency to show their teeth as animals do when they no longer have the human decency to control themselves. Why should this surprise you of them who claim to be nothing more than ape like creatures, random mutations, and mice with thumbs? Is this really so innovative of those from the ‘There is no hope’, ‘Live just for today’, ‘We are only animals’, ‘If it feels good do it’, ‘Truth is relative’, community?
The scriptures are about the love of the Father. It is God's testimony to man. This is how He's revealed Himself to us. Not, through lab analysis and the lens of a microscope (though this should be evidence). His revelation is to the heart of man. Not for an advancement of technology but, the advancement of self. But, people don't want that. They actually despise it for some odd reason. All they seem to want is appeasement and a ‘scape goat’ to place blame for the problems of sinful man and to release their vengeance on.
You are experiencing what is simply called hate. When verbal assault no longer satisfies their lusts they may resort to other more vicious attacks. They say it’s just good fun. And to a mean spirited person, degrading someone’s character out of ignorance and spite may seem normal but, it's not in any way normal or necessary. It is an intentionally hurtful and malicious way for them to attack you and what you believe. Blameless people don’t deserve to be treated this way regardless of how little someone understands them or how badly history has misrepresented them. Yet, it’s the way of the world.
Just as the world hated Jesus who was innocent of all wrong doing, they will hate you as well. All they need is an excuse. Even if it was produced in the figments of their own imaginations. And, since this is their predicament, their willful imaginations will justify their abhorrent behavior better than an answer which may subdue it and thus, pose a threat to their errant rationale.
No intelligent mind on earth can rightfully attribute the Bible to the evils of man. Only a hateful imagination could conceive such a brainchild. This is truly ironic: it is exactly this kind of thinking that has produced the same horrors men have claimed to have done in the name of God. Those who can’t distinguish between God’s will and man’s – faith and religion are no better than the terrorists, crusaders, and hate criminals who use religion as a justification for murder. They are two sides of the same coin. Hateful minds come in many variations.
It may sound harsh but, if I have the choice of speaking it how it is and offending someone, I'll choose the prior. And, some people have reached the level of maturity to open heartedly seek answers. They are commendable. I pray that more will follow.
Keep your faith and keep your head up. Don't let the bliss of someone else’s ignorance dampen your perspective or take your eyes off of your inheritance.
God bless

Alot of the answers I see here are more to make people think and contemplate. While not a Christian I appreciate any questions I see regarding my God's and Goddesses because not only does it give me a chance to sometimes correct ignorance, but it also gives me a chance to think more in depth about my beliefs and my faith. None so far have succeeded in making me throw away my beliefs. they have only made them stronger. Regardless of how many willfully ignorant people there are out there that make claims of knowing something about someone else's religion when they really know nothing about it.
Sometimes it can also be mockery. It's sad that anyone feels the need to mock and degrade anyone else's beliefs (or lack of). Unfortunately you see it from All quadrants.

They think they are being funny. They are mocking and scoffing. They do it to get their kicks and so that other Atheists or Agnostics or unbelievers can laugh. They don't really WANT answers, they just want to poke fun and find a way to get a rise out of Christians. They think that doing such things is logical proof against God and Jesus. Even a kindergartener could see how stupid that is.
Which is sad for the 1% who actually ARE wanting to know and learn.

Many questions are not asked to actually solicit new information - rather, such questions are often asked to encourage individuals that hold a belief X to think critically about it.
The search for knowledge and enlightenment is a human trait, and humor is a valuable filter for discussing sensitive subjects, because of the reactions it produces.

Oh hon, we call those people here trolls because they put up questions as traps and pick the most negative answer. You know, the wolf in sheep's clothing?...You have to look out for those here, there are a lot of wolves setting up traps for you to fall in to. They do it all the time, they don't have anything better to do with their lives.

If you are truly interested in the truth, then why waste your time on god. Why are you here, if not for the truth? So give up this god stuff and listen to those with knowledge.

Which God are we talking about here?
There seem to be quite a few competing for our attention.
My favorite is the silly insecure god who feels the need to be worshiped. The one with all the rules. You know, the one that Judges and punishes people who don't follow them.
Love and blessings Don

It may surprise you to find out that some people might not think your answer was correct.
Keep answering though, all input is good and helpful even if it is a little sarcastic or outright crazy.
If we can read answers from more points of views, we can all learn more about humanity.
