An Hebraic version of the Scriptures says of this verse:-
"Be like me as also I am in Messiah"
Peter says of Paul in 2Peter3:15-17 That Paul writes of things hard to understand, which unstable & untaught people
twist to their own destruction, as they do the rest of the
Scriptures. Peter gives a warning not to be led away by the
error of the wicked & fall from your steadfastness.
The reason we do not understand Paul is because we get taught over & over that Paul changed the Torah. He did no
such thing & we do not understand that he taught Torah &
only Torah in Messiah Yeshua. Yeshua also did not change
Torah, if He did he would not have been a sinless sacrifice &
could not have died for us & our hope would be in vain.
1John3:4 Now he who commits sin is Torahless , for sin is
Torahlessness.
Paul followed the Messiah & the Torah that he taught.
The sooner we get back to the true Torah the better. Yeshua
said to his followers, Do what the Pharisees tell you, but do
not do what they do. They sit in the seat of Moses/Moshe.
In the last days the Scriptures say that 10 men will take hold
of a Jew to learn Torah, because they see that YHWH is with
him. Christianity has robbed us of a lot of the true meaning
of the Scriptures. After 27 years I came to the place that all i
knew was that my heavenly Father loved me & sent His Son
to die for my sin. From there I started all over again, I came
to realize Yeshua taught Torah & only Torah & so did Paul &
the others. It was my understanding that was wrong & i was
miles away from the truth. Its hard to start again & have all your faulty foundations shaken & be ostracized at the same
time, but at the end it is worth it & the Truth will win out.
Paul followed & imitated Messiah of that I am sure.

The next verse has the answer. By holding firm to the traditions or teachings as I delivered them to you. Obviously by holding to the message of Jesus and not the teachings of men, Proverbs 14:12. Peter gives high praise for Paul and his deep teachings, 2 Peter 3:15-16.

By taking up the work Christ gave his followers:
Matthew 28:19
BTW Why do people, you included, suddenly start speaking old English when the Bible is quoted?
Anything wrong with sticking to modern English?

That is not the correct translation of the Greek and is misleading. The verse translated word for word is; ' ... imitators of me be, as also I of Christ.' There is no question of being a follower of Paul.
