Why not get a set that is white gold and yellow gold? Or get your ring white gold with a yellow gold Prong (the thing that holds the diamond) and then he can have his yellow gold ring and the two of you can match. What do you think? Maybe you should ask him. And take time out of you guy's schedule and look at some rings like that. Just compromise together. But I gave you something... to think about.

No they don't and I am SO with you. I do not like yellow gold and made sure my husband knew that way ahead of time :) My husband didn't really care what he wore so we picked something white gold, too but thats the only thing that ties the two things together and it doesn't even matter. Each of you should be happy with your choices of what you wear the rest of your lives so you wear white gold and let him wear yellow gold. If you want and if its possible, there are some lighter yellow golds that aren't as yellow and are nicer looking that maybe you can try to find. Good luck and congrats! :)

No they don't have to match. I have dark skin, so I actually prefer yellow gold to white. I thought my fiance was never going to find a ring that was as beautiful as the white gold for me but he did. He, on the other hand, like the titanium rings which are totally different. I haven't started to search for his band yet but I will be sure to get what I know he likes as he did with my engagement ring. Just get a band to match your ring and get him the band that he likes. It's not really a big deal. No one really pays as much attention to the guys ring anyway.

My fiancee and I had this same issue. I like yellow gold and he likes white gold and we did not care what anyone had to say about our rings because they are simply OUR rings and we have to wear them everyday. So, we decided to have it our way, my engagement ring and band is yellow gold and his will be white gold. However we did get matching bands so they were both the same designs. Hope this helps.

Not necessarily. My mother has two wedding bands. One matches my Dad's but she has another that has diamonds in it (not the exact same thing, I know) but that's the one that she wears almost all the time. So I don't think they have to match. I'm with you, I really prefer white gold over yellow.

why not find some rings that are the inverse of each other, like yours all white gold with a little yellow gold and his all yellow gold with a little white. Two tone bands are always so pretty.

I like yellow gold better. It looks more traditional and there is no chance that people may mistake it as being just a silver ring. Gold wedding bands look more like wedding rings to me. But white gold is nice too and it all comes down to personal taste. but my vote goes towards yellow

Well if you are not going to compromise and they have to match you have a problem. FYI White gold turns yellow after a while so you might want platinum. Also see if you can get him to get yellow gold with white gold in it.

Not at all! It's all about what you both want. My husband picked a huge band and mine is tiny. His is titanium and mine is white gold. They do not have to match at all. It's what each person is comfortable wearing. I know if my husband liked gold I would NOT have gotten a gold band b/c I don't like gold at all. So, it's up to you.

I have not one but two wedding bands.....one (the one I got married with) is a plain yellow gold band that matches my hubby's....my other is fancier....contains both round and baquette diamonds in a swirl pattern in yellow gold....the metals match but not the style.
I used the 'promise ring' he gave me as my engagement ring 'cause I adore it ( our birthstones, heart shaped, in a swirl setting accented by diamonds in yellow gold with I Love You inscribed on the inside. It's not the traditional solitaire that most engagement rings are. And and altho I've never asked for or hinted that I would like something more traditional....for x-mas he decided to get me a solitaire and a band to match as my very fancy set....I don't like diamonds so I'm getting a 4 carat square cushion cut green amethyst (mint green) solitaire flanked with round diamonds, and a band with my birthstones (peridot-apple green) in the center with a row of diamonds at top and bottom.....in white gold....certainly not a match to my hubby's plain yellow gold band....but it aint gonna stop me from wearing it! lol
