Yes absolutely! I have a potty box for my toy Chihuahua and when it is either too cold for him to go outside or I am not home he does wonderfully in it. I got him regular scoopable cat litter and he is fine with it. The training for the potty box is just like with outdoor training and will take a couple of days but it is well worth the time and effort especially if you have carpeting in your house. Good luck:>)

A piddle pad is less messy than a little box, I would think. You can get those bed liners for bed wetters at walmart, they are less expensive and more absorbant and better made than traditional doggy piddle pads.

And for the dog that "walks it out" provides a bit more room to do so, than a box would.

My chi's are piddle pad trained. It's quite convenient, for when I'm not at home, or when it's too cold for them to go out and do anything besides shake and shoot dirty looks at you.

Only if she can be trained. Just remember that chihuahuas are very picky and aren't easy to train even if they are still young. So if you want to train her now, you should do it as soon as possible. Good Luck. And remember that chihuahuas are very fragile, so don't be harsh on her when you train. You can be strict but not harsh. Good Luck.

Yes, I have a toy sized Chi and she is litterbox trained. I use "Yesterdays News" litter for her. It's made from recycled newspaper and not as messy as clay or sand litter. It takes time to train them though.

you can try to do the litter training with her, it might work. Honestly, I told myself when I got mine and trained him to go outsides was that if I had wanted a cat, I would have gotten a cat...Good luck to you.

Very small dogs can sometimes be litter trained, but more importantly, if you don't always have time to walk your dog, why did you get one?

If you know when your going to be leaving the house. Don't leave a big bowl of water/food out !! Leave the min. amount out for her !! Take it out before you leave
