I have a recipe of my grandmas that calls for paraffin wax. I have made this before but now I am doubting on whether or not I am using the right wax for the recipe. It is Gulf Wax, Household paraffin wax, for canning, candlemaking and many other uses. It does not say anywhere on box, not to be used to candy making, nor does it say that it is not edible. Please help me with this. I have already made about 5 dozen balls and need to know whether to serve or not. TIA

Yes, that is the same brand that my mom and I have always used for making our peanut butter candies.

my family has used gulf wax to harden chocolate for years. No ill effects have been experienced.

Yup, same stuff. I also thought it was strange. The reason for the wax is to solidify the chocolate. I have done the same thing with a TBS of shortning (solid type) for each 8 ounces of chocolate.
