Hey, hes me favorite driver! lol anyways, nahh I dont think he will be a favorite driver. He is around the 4th or 5th favorite driver in current NASCAR. Hes switching to Toyota too which will lose some fans. I hope he switches teams after 08, unless JGR went back to GM somehow. Go Tony! #20

This is not a poll on a NASCAR website or anything. In third place on the poll you reference is "I don't really follow NASCAR". Tony wasn't even 3rd after Jeff Gordon this year. Maybe a lot of rebels from Indiana voted in this poll.

I must say I was shocked that Tony was beating Jr in that poll. Usually if there anything with Jr in it he wins hands down. Heck, if you put a poll up that said who is richer: Donald Trump, Bill Gates or Junior. Junior would run away with it.(posted in a nascar type forum.)

On one hand I'm kinda surprised that fan-favorite Jr is not in the lead. But on the other, it seems like I am seeing WAY more TS fans not only at the track but off!! Go Tony!!!!

You'll see the answer to that when the camera pans across the grandstands at the 2008 Daytona 500 and the once "sea of red" is now a distinct green color.

no, because he has a limited fan base, his temper keeps him getting in to trouble with nascar officials, running a toyota will also limit his success this year

I love Tony, he's my man. But that poll is soooo polar because its overrun by us SMOKE fans. We have nothing better to do but click on his name.
Tony probably will never win that honor, but you know what? It's all good. I don't love him because he's likable, I love him because he pisses people off.

... I doubt it. Jr has way more fans that Stewart does and that doesn't seem to be changing any time soon. That's not to say that Stewart isn't a likeable guy because he is. Jr just has too many loyal fans as compared to anyone else.
