That is a scary scary surgery.........as you can become mute from the surgery. Just having polyps removed from the voice box is so tricky and dangerous, you have to sign papers in acknowledgement of possibly not speaking ever again, just from having that surgery. An Ear, Nose Throat Specialist can help you learn more about it.....

I have never heard of this. The only new "voicebox" I am familar with is the thing they give you where you swallow air to be able to "talk" following the removal of the larynx. The sound made then is a horrible croak. I hope I am missing something and there is a replacement voicebox. Many patients that have had their larynxes removed also would be delighted to hear about it. Could you send me info if you find it to be true? Thanks and GL

I saw a case on tv once of a young woman that had throat cancer, and got an artificial larynx so she could talk. But there is nothing cosmetic about it. And she was only in her 20's.

I have not heard about this. I sure wouldn't want anyone messing with my Larynx though - an unfixable problem caused by the surgery would be life changing in a very negative way. :(

Why would you want a new voicebox? It doesn't make any sence. But it is probably possible. You know all of the crazy things they say now adays.

The only thing I have heard of is getting your vocal chords lasered. Check out some of these sights.
