OK, here is my weird hair problem: if I don't wash my hair everyday, my scalp smells really bad. It's not oily, just stinks. This of course leads to another problem: my ends and rest of my hair are drying out. What do I do? Even the dermatologist I saw about this seemed clueless. Does anyone else have this problem? I've used dandruff shampoos, clarifying shampoos, etc. Please help if you can!

go "no 'poo" -- it works! google it -- you'll see!!!

shampoo is making your scalp condition WORSE.

all shampoos are bad -- even the 'clarifying' ones. they contain SLS (& SLS-related detergents).

You're better off cutting you hair off short to take care of the damage hair. For the Dandruff part you need to keep your scalp oiled at all times. I never had a dandruff problem until I start using this certain shampoo my new hair dresser had. I immediately stop and the dandruff went away. Shop around until you get it right. Im sure they have special or even medicated shampoo for situations like this.

Wash just the scalp with baby shampoo, and after you rinse, apply conditioner just to the ends.

I also have dense hair with a bit of a frizzy/wiry texture. I finally found something that works for me. It's a spray you use before you blow dry that changes the texture of your hair. It's called.. Umberto of Beverly Hills and I get it at Target (about $8 and it lasts for months). Give it a try

wash your hair everyday!!!! and only shampoo the roots, you don;t need to do any more because the excess soap will run down to your ends and because it doing all of your hair will strip nutrients from your hair. for conditioner only condition your ends and before you apply it get all of the extra water out of your hair. use herbal essences for shampoo and then bedhead for conditioner!

Wash your hair and use a good conditioner on the ends and keep it trimmed every 4 weeks.

Well, if you are having that problem, just wash your hair everyday. Let it air dry to prevent it from drying out...
