this includes day care costs as well. because of this court order i now have to break my lease on my apartment 3 months early and sell my car because i barely afford to feed myself right now, let alone pay rent or car payments.

in your shoes i would petition the courts and try to modify the order certainly t some judge will see this is very unreasonable for someone that is responsible enough to obey the order of support

Just as someone else said, the courts don't care. All you can do is maybe look for a better job that pays more. But, in this economy, it's tough to find those jobs and keep them. That's like $800 a month! Thats crazy! Are you paying any "back" child support at this time? If so, maybe the payment will go down in the future. It sucks. I'd me shady and look for a crap job on the side somewhere that pays under the table!

One might ask how it is possible to feed, clothe and take care of a child's medical and other needs on, only $200 per week.

Most parents actually do make the sacrafice of putting a child's needs before their own.

Sometimes a parent has to get a second job, or do without.

It is outrageous and should be unacceptable. The courts don't care. I bet that you don't get to know how that money of yours is spent. God only knows if it's going to the child or how much. The whole system is corrupt and needs to be overhauled.

if you were your child's full-time caretaker, you'd probably be putting more than half your salary to their welfare. your responsibilities to your child don't diminish just because you're divorced.

i'm sorry, i do realize that you're in a tough situation. but part of being a parent is putting your child first.
