To start things off, a few weeks ago the problem started. I wasn't having a bowel movement for 3 or 4 days, and when I did go...it was either really dark or diarrhea. Here it is a few weeks later, and I'm having the same problem. Except, this past weekend I've noticed a weight difference for no reason. Everyday I'm either a pound or two less, so I eat whatever during the day to put weight on. For the past couple days I've been the same weight. I just want to know what could be the cause of this weird behavior. I will be going to the doctor next week.

from what you've said, it doesnt sound like IBS because you don't loose weight while you aren't having any bowel movements if you had IBS. It's most likely something else so i would get check by the doctor and if there is no change in about a month then see your doctor again and ask to be seen by a gastroenterologist as they give a better diagnoses then gp do on these sort of things

If your stools are dark black then you need to be seen right away. The dark black color is digested blood usually from an ulcer.
You might have Irritable Bowel Syndrome or any number of disorders that can be treated.
In the meantime try to add a bit of fiber to your diet, increase it slowly or it will give you gas and make you feel worse. Also try to drink plenty of water so you stay hydrated if you have been having diarrhea. If you pass very hard stools I would suggest a stool softener as well.

I am glad you are going to the Dr. Your symtoms sound like irritable bowel syndrome (pds of constipation and diarrhea) but could be about any bowel problem. Your Dr. will be able to order some tests to find out for sure what is going on and then how to treat it.

Sounds like IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. Nothing to worry about, there are meds for it.
