I tried to copy to cd's but they don't hold very many songs. Is there a way to condense the files. Getting a new pc and want to transfer the info. Have as many as 500 i-tunes that I don't want to lose. Whats the best, simplest, and easiest way?

Copy them to your iPod and then connect the iPod to the new computer. Make sure the "disable automatic syncing" is checked in the syncing tab of the preferences.

If your ipod won't hold all the songs try burning to a DVD or ziping the m4a's

The "best" way is to get yourself a "jump/thumb drive" or an external hard drive and simply copy them over. I would do it in sets of 100 as it never fails that during the copy something times out and you have to start over again. so 100 at a time is the easiest.

IF you have them in a network you can create a folder on your new PC and "share" it and then you can copy it across your network. Let me/us know if you need help in configuring a share.

i would say get a program (like iDump) and install it on your ipod, as it is pretty much just like a storage device (this will not work with the touch or iphone, as they are totally different beasts than all other ipods because of their os basing). if you have a touch or iphone, you will have to pay for a program.

so, you need to set your ipod settings to manually manage music... which is located at the bottom of itunes in your ipod window. load your songs (or as many as you can) onto your ipod, then plug it into the other computer. now, go into my computer, open the storage device with your ipod name, and open the iDump program. run this to rip all your songs you stored on your ipod to your computer.

this is the free way if you dont have an external harddrive. if you have an external drive, i woujld say to use that as you can fit many songs on it at a time. if, you have any other questinons (like how to install iDump on your ipod), then feel free to email me

network the two computers together. then just use windows explorer to move or copy them. you need to enable file sharing to do this.
