"schitau zvezdi dnem"..can someone tell me what this means??? the translation and the meaning of this phrase.

count stars during the day. sorry, even being Russian, I haven't heard anything like that. the meaning can be, though, looking for something that doesn't exist. Best advise - think of an English equivalent. :)

The translation above is correct besides a small missing part:

It is not "count stars during the day" it is "I count stars during the day" it is not an idiom, but it could have 2 meanings: one is as if to say: I am so special that I can count stars during day's light - i.e I am better then you or everyone.

The second is like person before me specified: trying to do something that is impossible to do.

It means: I count the stars during the day.
Maybe the rest of the phrase is
"and dream of you at night".
Sounds like part of a love poem to me!

Perhaps a Biblical reference? There's a lot of talk of counting stars in the Bible, and a lot of reference to the difference between day and night, light and dark.
