I have been suffering from constant nightmares from the age of 5. Every morning remember at least one nightmare - Im exhausted most of the time and certainly don't look forward to sleeping. I have tried meditation and yoga, but still have the nightmares. I have tried wearing myself out with strenuous physical effort throughout the day to no avail. I don't eat a few hours before I sleep and live alone. The only respite I seem to have from nightmares are when I take sleeping pills (very rarely). Does anyone have ANY suggestions - any meds ( benzos, SSS1 etc ) that you have taken that seem to dissapate nightmares?

I sympathise with you. I have suffered with nightmares for years. I fall asleep for maybe an hour and a half and then wake up and have to walk around to be able to get some more sleep.

I do shift work as well. In the end I volunteered to do the nights because then I would be so dog tired when I got home that I would get more sleep - maybe five hours some days!!

I dont know the content of yours but mine always involve mutilation, deformed babies, murder, my own hanging etc etc.

I have only just found an answer that works - well, one that works for me that is!!

Forget sleeping pills etc. They do nothing. Same as exercise, long night shifts, yoga etc etc. Nothing works. I've tried them all.

The problem you see is that the nightmares are caused by repressed anxiety. You are subconciously anxious about something - even if its only an impending nightmare!!

Bear in mind that you can only deal with a problem if you know what the problem is. Since the anxiety is subconcious (and maybe fully justified for all you know) therapy is not the answer either. But magnesium is!!

If you take a magnesium supplement you will find that within minutes you suddenly feel calm and relaxed. Its amazing how a simple sub-clinical deficency of this mineral can cause such problems - but it does. Take it half an hour before going to bed, thats what I do!

I prefer magnesium ascorbate. Thats magnesium combined with vitamin c. Other good supplements are magnesium, citrate or magnesium orotate. All three are very cheap.

Its a very safe supplement, Any overdoes is likely to give you mild diarrhoea, thats all.

Try it and see if it works for you too!

There are sufficient of the inventory solutions...... demise and taxes!! i've got faith that given sufficient time, each and every thing ought to alter. Our fact is specific by potential of the 4 dimensions, specifically area and time, interior of those confines, unchangeable is in basic terms a concept and no fact. we are in a place to not adventure the unchangeable, on account that's thru some exchange or the different that we assemble any adventure. fidelity in our fact isn't something however the constrained concept of the state between 2 adjoining differences....... those adjoining differences are experienced by potential human beings as a beginning up and an end. something unchangeable ought to have no beginning up nor end and this style of difficulty could of course exist in a greater ideal measurement than the 4 dimensions that enclose our existence.

I would highly suggest two things be checked thoroughly:

Do you eat complex carbs after 6 PM all the time? That WILL cause nightmares.

Do you have any ties or doorways for demons to bother you? I would give my heart to Christ, and put the problem in His hands. He has never lost a case! Only He, ultimately, in any situation you have, really knows how to resolve your problem. One way or another, you need His help. Let Him wrestle it out for you, and guide you to the answers you need. It may not be overnight, it may require effort on your part, but He will give you the relief you need, if you let Him.
