I got Playstation 3 for my husband for Christmas along with some games and movies. I haven't gotten HDMI cables, do I need to?

As for what inputs are on our TV, I have no idea. We have a Samsung LCD 1080i...That's all I know.

You can use component or HDMI cables. Component support up to 1080i, HDMI - up to 1080p.

Since your television doesn't go up to 1080p, and only goes up to 1080i, there is no need for HDMI. All you need is a component cable and this may have already came with the PS3!

Well you don't have to have and HDMI cable to start playing although I would suggest getting one eventually because that is what the PS3 is all about. You get regular RCA hookups with the PS3 and you should have the red, yellow, and white hook ups on your tv. If you don't get the HDMI cables right away just let you husband know thats not what the picture is supposed to look like and once you get the HDMI he will be surprised with the difference.

If you don't get an hdmi cable you are defeating the purpose of having a blueray player. The cable that comes with the ps3 doesn't put a very good looking picture on the screen.

You need the HDMI cables if your HDTV set has HDMI input connectors.

Just buy the regular, cheap ones from wal-mart.

Blu-Ray disks do have enough DRM features to have seriously restricted playback when not using HDMI, but no movies as of yet have enabled those features.

You'll want HDMI for it eventually, but it's not needed right now.

it depends on the hdtv you own. take me for example the hdtv ready i own has component hd inputs so the signal i get is 1080i with component cables. so it depends on the inputs of the tv you going to use:-) what model, make, etc. is your tv?
