What do you think older people prefer *lol*?

Thanks

Glossy shows more fine detail, matt is easier to handle without smudging. I go for gloss and then put them under glass but it's very much a personal choice, although this may be driven by how your photos are going to get used and if the prints are going to get handled.

Hope that helps!

It depends on whether or not they're going to be handled as others have said. Matte doesn't show fingerprints as much. Glossy does look better and show more detail. If it's going to be hung (not sure about 4 x 6) in sunlight, matte soesn't reflect quite as bad, but I'm not sure it matters as the glass reflects too. Grandma's usually like to show off their pictures, so I'm guessing it'll get handled a lot and therefore I'd go matte. I also have glued some of my pics to magnets and give them away that way. It's great when they're "in action" and you can cut out just them. These I definately get in matte because if they're in reach of any child, they love to play with them. I usually have to replace them a few times a year due to this, lol. At least they have fun!

I like glossy. Matte is nice too, but glossy is fancier, and adds to the photo. Even when a photo is not the greatest, it somehow looks nicer on glossy paper.
Borders make the photo look nicer too, but 4x6 is a little small, and borders will make the picture even smaller.
If your grandma can't see very well (like mine) I would either order larger prints, or no borders.

I hope this helps! :-)

I myself always order glossy, for every print I have made. The reason is that I go to great length to produce/capture spectacular images, and I find that a Matte finish on the final print fails to reproduce the subtle details I work so hard to preserve.

It might be good to have one of each made, which will allow you to make a side by side comparison, helping you to decide.

Yep, matte. Too much reflection on a glossy can detract.
