No, Pagan custums are the reason for the season, from my research I think Nimrod was the begining of it, when he married his mother, and then died, she claimed he came back from the dead every year and left gifts under an evergreen tree that sprung up "overnight" after his death.
The worship of him later turned into baal and other false gods, saturnalia and the sort.
The worship of his mother/wife turned into the "goddess of the heavens" and other such divine feminine worship.
So actualy, if you count Nimrod as Father Christmas, which my research would suggest, then yes, father christmas is the reason for the season.

The people who answer Christ is the reason apparently know nothing about history and tradition of Christmas. It's sad really how these people live and thrive off misinformation to the point they try their best to make it true.
The only similarities between Christ and Christmas is the name... nothing else is shared! All the traditions and celebrations were stolen from the Pagans.

A day off from work--finally--I don't care who sponsors it, is what matters to me.
As far as Jesus is concerned, if you don't worship him all year long, then Christmas is simply another commercial frenzy like all of the others throughout the year, and is actually an antithesis to a belief in Jesus.

Uhm, if you mean Jesus as "Father Christmas", then yes. And fleas are the reason for the black death, not the rats.
