If they said it was the Sun, they could get more funding for their work.
Yet, they say it's not.
"Studies at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research reveal: solar activity affects the climate but plays only a minor role in the current global warming"
http://www.mpg.de/english/illustrationsDocumentation/documentation/pressReleases/2004/pressRelease20040802/
That's their own press release:
"Solar variability certainly plays a minor role, but it looks like only a quarter of the recent variations can be attributed to the Sun. At most."
http://solar-center.stanford.edu/sun-on-earth/glob-warm.html
Stanford Solar Center's own website.
If scientists supposedly slant their work to get funding, why are these guys saying this?

Alwin E - They're saying it's NOT the Sun to get funding??? They're SOLAR research institutes.

jbtascam - It's all down to the relative amount of each. We've hugely increased our production of greenhouse gases lately. This graph shows how the relative importance of various things has changed over the past 100 years.

It's really quite simple. Scientists don't fudge data. They certainly don't do it en masse in order to perpetrate a hoax on the world population.
This is really a perfect illustration of that. If the hoax theory were true, solar scientists would want to get a piece of the action. They would expose the anthropogenic global warming hoaxers and say the Sun were to blame if that were the case.
It's not. Solar scientists debunk both the solar global warming theory and the scientific hoax theory in one fell swoop.

Bob -
These guys aren't climatologists - so we are supposed to IGNORE them.
Besides, if you actually READ the article, you will find that it says warming for the period 1980 to 2000 is the period that the "Sun is not the cause of..."
While Prof. Sami K. Salanki may SAY "the significant increase in the Earth’s temperature since 1980 is indeed to be ascribed to the greenhouse effect caused by carbon dioxide," this is not his area of expertise. He is not a Climatologist, he's a solar physicist.
So what the paper really says is that the pre-1980 warming CAN be ascribed to the sun, but that the little warming we've had since (1980 to 2000) must be ascribed to "something else."
I think I'll take "thermal inertia" for 1 trillion, Bob.

When I was in Venice last time about a year or two, they were building hand made bridges to walk across San Marco Square to the pier. Just wondering when the idiots will start planning to solve the emission of CO2 and doing something concrete instead of arguing on the causes of global warming. If we don't do anything now, we may be in for a global disaster probably on a scale beyond our wildest imaginations. There's no doubt in my mind that Venice will be the first victim of AGW and what a pity that would be.

To get funding.
I don't believe everything thay say in "the global warming swindle" (movie, available through Google video); but there's one thing that impressed me, and that's the elder scientist saying:
"the sun is a roaring tiger"
Ever looked at NASA pictures of the sun, from Skylab or SOHO? Yes, she's a roaring tiger.
Another movie I'd recommend is "Doomsday called off" by the CBC (Canadian), also available at Google.
---
edit:
Bob, I understood you. But solar research doesn't mean they do real solar research; it MAY mean that they're paid to prove the contrary, although there's real evidence that the global warming is NOT man-made, and produced by the sun and natural climate shifts.
But I'm not a scientist, so I can't decide. But there are very reasonable arguments that should be listened to.

Well i think is not related to the sun because global warming is caused by the people not by the sun we are doing a lot of harm to our earth we are not recycling like we supposed to and we just dont care.In my case i do care about earth so im doing the best to keep it say but other people dont, all these things causes earth to overwarmth and killed out the ozone layer in earth. we should try caring about earth not only for ourselves!!!!!

They say it is not the Sun because it isn't. Scientists are not supposed to lie about their results just to get money.

Why didn't you mention the PRIME research facility NCAR in Bolder, Colorado.. if you are going to quote the debunkers supported by the oil and gas and coal industries then you need to at LEAST quote the MAIN AGENCY that has been studying global warming for 30 YEARS.
You are welcome to you opinion but you are NOT welcome to your supposed "facts".

It is all this man made pollution that is screwing up the climate.
That and the idiots that cannot see past their nose and understand it.
