After getting a doctorate ih pharmacy why would you want to do medical coding. Both are growing fields but unless you open your own coding business you will not make the salary that you get as a pharmacist (but the hours may be better)

The overall trends are not in your favor. A pharmacist is a patient/customer facing role and those roles tend to be better rewarded and better protected from offshoring than a back-office role like medical coding. There is money to be made in medical coding and medical billing if you are willing to be an entrepreneur, but is probably just as true for pharmacy. Customer facing jobs cannot be moved easily to remote parts of the world. Back-office jobs can and will move to find the cheapest labor.

What is right for you may not be right for someone else. It depends "why" you want to make the switch. Do you hate standing for long periods? Do you have health reason for making the switch? Medical coding can be a lucrative career. I highly recommend training in both medical coding and medical billing and possibly starting your own business down the road. Make sure you get quality training. Best wishes to you.
