Like at any age, if you want to loose weight you have to eat less calories than the calories you burn. So the recipe is you either lower the amount of calories (not food) you eat or you increase the amount of exercise you do or a combination of both.
Keep in mind that it is the calories you have to decrease, not the amount of food. This means that you should eat healthier, replacing high calorie foods for low calorie, high fiber foods. For example eat more raw fruits and vegetables, eat more fish, drop the soda, eat whole wheat instead of white bread, etc.
Don't forget your protein and your milk. Specially if you are between 13 and 16, because you are growing and you need your protein and at this particular stage in life, calcium is very important for your bone development.

Hun unless you're seriously overweight don't try to shave the pounds off. I was once a competitive swimmer at the age of 14 weight at 180 pounds. Looking around I was the biggest guy at the pool compared to everyone else who was skinny. I went from being ranked in the country to 4th, to not even being able to keep up with my times from when I was 14 from losing 30 pounds. Only being 16 and looking back on it, I am now struggling with depression and lack of fatigue from the weight loss. Just eat healthy and don't overeat. If you really want to lose weight, burn more calories than you consume.

The best way to lose weight, at any age is to burn more calories then you take in. And honestly taking in fewer calories is not the answer… burn more calories, exercise enjoy life, live, move and have fun. At 13-16 years of age it’s easier then for an adult with a busy schedule to find time to exercise and have fun. Eat healthy and with everything moderation is key.

swimmin should help n also try to eat healthy cause that were most people dont concentrate at, n of cause u got to exercise start slow than every two week increase your work out. plus more tip try to eat 5 meal a day instead of 3 but the 5 meal got to be small meal eat every 3 to four hour. you stomach will get used to not eat big meal n in time it will close bit by bit. but got to eat healthy lot of fruit n veg n drink lot of water.

eat less and exercise more. Its the same for everybody. There is no magic pill or "trick" exercise that will get it done. Most importantly, eat healthy and on a regular basis.
