Thanks for the info. As a guy who grew up in Southern California US Earthquake Country I still remember many times our homes were almost wiped out over the years from strong earthquakes. My heart goes out to you folks.

Thanks for the concern. The quake was in Gisborne and for a short time the residents had to consider Tsunami possibility. But it has all settled down. Only one death - a woman who had a heart attack due to the stress. Mostly damage was to buildings, some homes and contents. Nearly all shops are trading again. Electricity was down for some time.

There was about 20 people in Gisborne with minor injuries, none serious. so that is good .but a big cleanup to happen as many buildings in Gisborne mostly historic ones have severe damage so some of the areas have been closed off to the public for safety reasons. The quake was centred in Gisborne 50 kilometres out to sea and was felt all over NZ

There has been widespread minor damage but no casualties. New Zealand gets earthquakes all the time. It's not called the Shaky Isles for nothing. They are used to them there and build appropriately.

The quake flattened a few buildings but no one was hurt.... all normal for the geologically active country NZ !
