We atheists have jokingly instated a drinking game, where you take a drink whenever a question is asked that is posted over and over and over.... like "Why are atheists here?", or "If man is descended from monkeys, why are their still monkeys?'" (my personal fav). I know we are not the only ones that get tired of the repeats. Which repeated questions bug you? I can imagine with the catholics its on the about not calling anyone father. Maybe the evangelicals get tired of the "Who made God?" one. Lets vent a little! Also, do you think people actually ask these questions to get answers?

I'll answer the last question first: No, I don't think most of the these "questions" are asked to get real answers; the frequent selection of BA going to the loudest "amen" or "they're stupid" or some such tends to back that up.

The frustratingly repetitious questions directed to Catholics are often presented as an entire laundry list, but certainly do appear solo. My personal list of questions that make me want to scream:
"Why do Catholics worship Mary/the saints/statues?"
"Why do Catholics baptize babies?"
"The Bible doesn't say Peter went to Rome, how can you call him the first pope?"
"Communion? Body and blood? Eeeuuw!" questions

And, of course:
The variations on calling priests "father" usually lifting Matthew 23:9 ("call no man father ...") out of context and begging the reciprocal question of gee, what do you call your male parent?

Thanks for the opportunity to vent, Basket. It may help me to be more patient with this sort of thing, at least today!

Actually, the "calling priests Father" one doesn't seem to come up too often when I'm around. Its usually stuff about worshiping Mary and the saints and about how Catholics have beliefs that aren't in the Bible.

And yeah, they drive me insane. I just won't start the drinking game 'cause then I'd be permanently wasted.

I like to answer questions - There certainly are a lot of duplications but, as far as I know, at least different people are asking them and just not one demented individual.

some people are sincerely looking for honest answers. A lot of people are just trying to be a thorn in the flesh. And it seems they often succeed.

I hope you are careful about your drinking game. By the way you describe it, you might never get sober.

god bless

If I were catholic, I would be highly annoyed by the "why pray to Mary/Icon line of questions" and as a general believer the "Can God make a rock so big that he can't lift it." would be annoying. It's even annoying to me as an atheist!

There are two repeated questions that bug me
1) Why are we here?
2) Why do we not believe in god?
