According to many God gave us free will...but what is free will without reasoning. How we're Adam and Eve supposed to know better prior to eating from the tree of knowledge. If its truly about faith alone why wasn't faith instilled during creation?

Reasoning is applied according to faith and knowledge. Not by faith alone...God provided the knowledge for them to obey and they chose each in turn not to trust it but to go their own way. Faith wasn't even a criteria at that point...they knew God existed. He was right there with them. Love in Christ, ~J~

Maybe because God told them not to eat from the tree? It's very much like a parent telling a child not to do something when they're very young. At an early age you don't need to give your child a reason. You just expect them to do what you tell them. It's not until they get older that you start giving them reasons.

As far as believing in God faith and reason cannot be separated. Those two things are pretty much worthless without the other. Of course in the case of Adam and Eve they were with God, so one could perhaps argue that for that reason they didn't even need faith.

They only had one rule! Do not touch or eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil or They Would DIE.

They were told the rule and the consequences of breaking that rule.

The serpent came along and caused them to doubt God with his faulty reasoning. Which, by the way, is no less than what happens today. Well, Adam and Eve could see that the fruit could be good for food and they really didnt know what it would taste like and I am sure they were curious, too. And they figured it could make them really full of wisdom, too.

Lets pretend for a moment. You are the guest of a highly respected person and you are given free reign of his house except one thing. There was a bag on the table and it was all folded down and you were told you could not touch that bag. The day goes on and you are very curious about what is in that bag. so you think to yourself, a little peak wont hurt anything, I can carefully open it up peak inside and then close it back down and who would know the difference? right? Well, lets say you go ahead and open the bag, you are so curious anyway, so you get the bag and carefully unroll the top so you can look inside, but when you open the bag, all of a sudden lets say whatever was in it spatters out across everywhere and on your face and you cant put it back in the bag and roll the top back down. The owner of the home comes back and finds that you disobeyed.......

They had reasoning. The one thing they didnt have at that time right before they took the fruit was a sin nature. We often think that if we didnt have the sin nature then we could obey God easy, but you see, the devil is always there trying to cloud our thinking, and he is good at it. He knows the low blows and he uses them. That is why we need the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and to protect us.

They didnt need faith then, they conversed with God in person, they could until they sinned.

Which goes to show, that even when we have seen God face to face, there will be many who would not continue to obey Him and will turn away to their own lusts.

The tree of knowledge will pushing us to clarification which is good and which is bad.
Everyone chooseing the good, who will take the bad? Everyone idea is good, who will be the worse? Then come with discussion, arguement, fight for right, and kill. So is the sin of origin.
I don't care of Adam and Eve was our origin but the even I know they did wrong.
If god is comparson and capable, will not have any punishment to his products. He made us. He made everythings including devils who was the leader of his angels but rebelled him later. He knew it and he did it.
Did he made mistake? or he relucton to made something unknown? He is the beginning and he is the end then he is incapable as he knew he will be ended too.
If he is life longer then us, who will life longer then him? This is the concept of vertical or Horigzontal and never contact the result. Let it be a circle, we forget the end and the beginning. Just take out a part of the circle and see our beginning which we had know and predice our future what should be? As we know: what we did will result to the future. This is the karmas of Hindru which is turning round and round repeat and repeat but everytime will be repeated differently. This life you are A, the previous life you are B. B had killed C. C this life is a snake which bit A to die. A is not B why it carry forward to A? It is fair as Vedas said; it is fair. The reward and revenge turning round and round then is everlasting. The budha said; in between the karmas, there is chance being and also resulting the effort. Such as the seed planted on ground should have chances to meet with water, vitamins, air and not to be eaten by warms, germs, birds etc. These chances sometimes are also karmas but your willing will be the master of mind to change. These change is called nirvana or christ said the peaceful and happiness.

From my understanding, God told Adam and Eve not to eat from the Tree. The lesson was one in trust/faith. They should have had faith that what God was telling them was correct, not been tempted by the serpent, (in Eve's case) or one another, (in Adam's) and not eaten from the Tree. And, IMO, Faith was not/is not instilled in creation because as you said, God gave us free will. The idea is that we should CHOSE to believe, if we were born believing, then it would not be about Faith. *All just my personal opinion, of course*

It was. The problem was Eve actually believed Satan and thought God was holding out on her. Satan tempted her by the idea of being like God. She in turn tempted Adam. Yes, they obviously didn't have enough faith in God to listen to him but if they had known who that serpent was I'm sure they wouldn't have eaten that fruit. Truly they should've been street smart (I know it's kind of early for them for that term). If God gave them all of these things and was so nice to them they should've asked God about this serpent. They chose a talking snake over God. Honestly, they should've known better.

Adam and Eve walked with God they herd it strait from his mouth. he told them don't eat from that tree yet even though they had a whole garden full of trees they still defied God and ate from the one tree they where not supposed to. people today have a better excuse for not doing what God says than Adam and Eve did.

Adam and Eve were supposed to know better because GOD physically told them not to eat from that tree. At that time, they were with GOD and did not need faith. What was required of them was obedience. They chose not to obey GOD and that was their sin.

Remember, GOD loves you even when you don't love Him!

Adam and Eve did know they were not to eat from the tree of Life. God told them not to eat from it. They did have free will.

they were supposed to know better because they were instructed prior. they were not created as babies or children they were created as adults MAN and WOMAN. and they knew good andwell they should not eat of that tree. if they didn't have the knowledge then they would have eaten of it on accident, it would not have taken the most cunning animal in all the garden to talk her into it.
