Because everything has an ending.
The good and the bad.
At least something good comes out of endings...
Even the bad situations at some point come to an end...

To every encounter corresponds a farewell...
Same as to every beginning corresponds an ending.

Basically, because of a fundamental concept called entropy. This states that over time, everything tends to a more disordered state.

The longer your "good thing" continues, the more chance it has to go wrong in some way. Only one bad thing - out of the many possible - has to happen for it to end, as opposed to the many things that need to happen for the good thing to continue. Eventually, one of these chances will happen, and the good thing will end.

To restrict the ammount of substance. So as not to overcrowd or overstimulate. It's not just the good though, it's entropy.
