i had a dream last night that i was driving, and the steering wheel locked, so i couldn't turn, and i narrowly avoided an accident. Still, somehow, i ended up with a large gash in my foot and i had to go to the hospital. They began putting stitches in, and i remember thinking 'this doesn't hurt at all,' but i couldn't stop screaming for some unknown reason.

any ideas?

Having a accident in a dream represents that there is an aspect of your life where you lost control. Or, the "vehicle" by which you are trying to get ahead in life won't turn the way you want it to. By vehicle, I mean gift, talent, occupation, job, business, shcooling and so on. But the large gash in your foot represents that you have hindered your "footing" in life. Or, you are not able to get a firm or solid footing in regards to being steadfast. Which means you can be shaken by stress, worry, fear, and adversity. The stitches represent a healing process. It sounds like there were somethings which you had to adjust yourself to that you thought was going to be unpleasant. But in fact, it was not as bad as you thought it would be.

Someone or something has interfered with your autonomy, and your ability to "steer" your own life. You have some pent up anger or fear about the situation, which is why you were screaming. In stitching up the foot, you are trying to hold together a relationship which has a bearing on this situation......

perhaps something is bothering you and you're shrugging it off but you know deep down that it hurts you.

OR

sdomething is happening to you and it should hurt but it doesn't and that is causing you discomfort.
