Friend,
Elders say that feeding the hungry, helping the miserables like good things towards people that really need help and helping the mentally retarded and physically challenged persons too will make The God happy.
But where is that God?Inside every one , HE is sitting silently. So He feels happy.
Similarly in meditation what one does is not making the God happy but trying to realise HIM .
But if you ardently pray , with Love and no other desire , with only love , like a mother for her missing child if you cry with heart , then the prayers are heard speedily and realisation occurs speedily.
That is , friend , what I think .

I believe prayer and meditation are ways of communicating with God and other spirits. What really makes God happy is action, attitude, charity and good behavior.
Peace!
Edit: Also a baby being born makes God happy, for sure!

Surely it is meditation... And meditation does not make God happy, but the other way, it makes the meditator feel relaxed and close to God. It is the most easy and affordable way to be close to God, as it allows us to perform our duties towards our family and society at the same time be close with God..
Prayer is the outward form of reaching to God.
And above all God is the Goodness in you!

Prayer is asking God and Meditation is listening to God. Meditation may be more pleasing to God because by that the rta,the Order which holds creation, is imbibed and we would ever be in the line of God.
Moreover,we are all kids before Him, we may not even know what to ask in Prayer!

A pure heart (intentions) make God happy.
Amen is not supposed to be the end of your prayer - your prayer is supposed to be constant. When you're lying in bed, getting ready for work/school, making breakfast, putting your children to bed, God desires an open dialogue with our hearts all day...
I certainly don't do that...except maybe once a year...but I am working on it.
So what makes God happy? Bridging the gap between you and Him.
Great question.

It is not for me to judge this question - because whatever I say will be a mere guess.
If asked to guess, I would say that God is not dependant on my prayer or my meditation to be happy.
Prayer gives me strength - and this strength makes me put in that extra effort to succeed.
Meditation makes me calm and frees my from disturbance which this material life bestows.
I do these for selfish reasons - but if God becomes pleased and shows this to me in unequivocal terms, I would be most flattered and pray and meditate more and more.

For while God knows all things before they even come to pass, scripture does not teach that God is emotionless as to how we live, but clearly shows us the attitudes and actions which delight His heart.
First and foremost God is pleased by faith. Faith is that attitude which believes that God exists, and on the basis of that belief, takes God into account through the daily outworking of our life. And yeah, this pleases God, for humankind was not created to be independent, but dependant upon its creator! Nor can faith be based upon our own ideas, but must have the truth revealed in God’s word as its foundation. Without this attitude of faith it is impossible to please God. You can preach a sermon, perform good deeds, or do whatever you may think is ‘godly’. Everything not done through faith is ‘a missing of the mark’. We seem to live in an age that desires and equates the blessing of God with how much money we have, but in reality, we are very poor.
So what would you ask for? Maybe good health, or a well-paid job? Maybe a lottery win, or even three more wishes! And it pleases God today, when His people desire to have a true understanding and knowledge of Him so that they may walk in His ways and accurately testify about Him. I have a feeling that the most pleasing answer in the ears of God would be that we want to truly know and love Him. That we desire Him more than any gift He would give us.

Prayers and Meditation are for the benefit of the one who do them... it gives him peace and energy... It makes no difference to God whether you do prayers or meditation, but it will make a difference in the one who do it.....

I would say "intense yearning" (without greed and fear, with simple mind) for God in the back of the mind. Then anything and everything is meditation and prayer as well!
